to be annoyed at my mate for telling me my period is only late if...

... I am beyond 28 days, even though my cycle is almost always 24 days long so to me 'being late' is it being 25 or 26 days.

she is insisting that I am only properly late once I get past 28 days. Does she mean in a pregnancy context?

btw - I am TTC but we were talking today about getting my period on Holiday not me trying to Conceive, though she does know I want children. It's pretty hard to keep it a secret as she knows I have split with a long term partner and that I have a new man with whom I want children and that at 38 I need to get my skates on.

Her husband had fertility problems and as a result they had only one child (After a miscarriage) so we've talked a lot about conception over the years, even before I was trying.

"late is more than 14 days after you ovulated. If you have a cycle which is normally 24 and therefore you ovulate on day 10 then after day 24 you are late."

unless you ovulate on day 15 and have a luteal phase of 10 days which is the case with me. Not everyone has a 14 day luteal phase.

Why are you even discussing your cycle with someone who doesn't sound very sympathetic or knowledgable?

joash · 30/05/2008 15:51

Sounds like a daft and petty thing to get annoyed at really. If she wants to be a prat, doesn't mean you have to get the strop on over it - after all, it's hardly a major problem is it.

ShowOfHands · 30/05/2008 15:56

I have a 16/17 day luteal phase Kew so I ovulate on day 11/12 and af is on day 28.

Does she think that all pregnancies last exactly 40 weeks too?

"Why are you even discussing your cycle with someone who doesn't sound very sympathetic or knowledgable?"

well, I have worked with her for 9 years almost, and while there are quite a few things we have differing attitudes to we get on well and we have never properly fallen out. I just found this particular thing frustrating because I know she is wrong and it doesn't matter how many times I explain it to her she still thinks she's right.

We have very similar cycles and so often would have our periods at the same time so it would always come up in conversation.

AIBU to discuss my periods with people I have known for years?

Then stop discussing it with her! It is getting you nowhere.

YANBU to discuss it but you are to moan about it when you keep doing it and she keeps annoying you.

beaniesteve · 30/05/2008 16:21

OH-K,

That's me told

We were discussing it within discussion about my impending holiday. I will make every attempt to not do so in future, and certainly not to post about it here to make things easier for you NAB.

Just my POV.

I wasn't telling you and you don't have to listen.

beaniesteve · 30/05/2008 16:23

No no, it's fine. Don't worry about it

I was just responding, you don't have to listen either
