To be irritated that McDonald's have brought back plastic toys.

I've looked on their website and they say they mix "fossil fuel materials" with used cooking oil to make durable toys that your kids can pass down to their kids.

This Minecraft toy is identical in style to the toys they used to make and I cannot see us keeping it safe for the day I become a grandmother.

My kids actually requested a book, but that request is universally ignored in all McDonald's. Why?!

In france they give you a beautiful hardback book, really nice quality.

Other moans while I'm here: why do they universally ignore my request for the grilled chicken wrap. The receipt says grilled, the box says grilled. The chicken inside however is fried.

Why do they make the tea ten minutes before the rest of the meal, so that the tea is stewed.

Why Why Why!

@LillyPJ it's cheap, quick, has tables and seats and mostly tastes ok.

It's also very predictable in terms of shape, taste, colour, smell etc.. So often a safe choice for NT kids or kids with a limited diet.

Too much processed stuff, lack of fibre, loads of additives, too much salt, fat and sugar, not enough fruit and vegetables... Empty calories. Food made for profit, not for nutrition. I'm sure you already knew all that though, so not sure why you asked.

Most of this is incorrect.

Yabu. I'm over the moon. My daughter loves my McDonald's toys from the 80s and 90s. Nowadays the paper toys are binned. She couldn't believe the Minecraft toys.

Most of it. McDonald's burgers or nuggets aren't any more processed than the ones you can buy in the supermarket, and are significantly better than what is sold in a lot of take aways. The fries are made by McCain and are just potatoes and some oil. The burgers are 100% beef and a bit of salt and pepper added, the nuggets are chicken breast in batter.

It's absolutely fine in moderation.

I agree! Fine in moderation. But to say they're no more processed than ones you buy in supermarkets doesn't make them good. I don't think anything cooked in oil or batter is particularly healthy either. You didn't mention the sauces or the desserts or shakes or soft drinks etc which are where the additives etc are. And where are the fruits and vegetables? (A slice of gherkin or a few sad slices of apple barely count.) As I said, I understand that sort of food is popular (because it's easy, cheapish and doesn't need much chewing) but there's a reason why we have an obesity epidemic and fast food is part of it.

I recently found lots of ‘90s McDonald’s toys in my parents loft.

my kids have really enjoyed playing with them. Particularly the Disney ones. They were actually very good quality.

the ridiculous cardboard dinosaur my child got the other month broke as we tried to build it !

Thanks all for the healthy criticism 🙂
Sometimes McD's is the only option that presents itself.

If I buy some triangle sandwiches, we might have to sit in the rain to eat them.

Very often we've found a cafe only to discover it is on the point of closing (2.45pm!)

Pizza hut is expensive and no healthier.

Pubs and all restaurants that have a kids menu consisting of nuggets and chips, again, that is no healthier.

We recently discovered Bill's, but when we tried to go there again it was full, and it's about twice the price of McD.

A chip shop: no healthier.

We don't have a large budget. The other option is to go home to eat, but occasionally we're out and can't do that.

At least at McDonald's the burger is plain beef, cooked on a hot plate and that's it. And I still have the budget afterwards for a banana or an apple from the tesco express. My kids only like milk and water, so they don't have the fizzy drinks or even fruit shoot.

Aside from that, when at home we don't have nuggets, or chips (I do have some in the freezer for emergencies). I can't pretend that they eat cucumbers, but things like home made lasagne, cottage pie, home made pizza with vegetable sauce. Toasties with tomatoes. That sort of thing.

On the toys, yes I remember the wind up fries! And the transformer milk shake!

But a lot of the stuff is tat to be honest. At least the paper dinosaur, I can recycle him easily. And again, they very often give a toy instead of the book my ds requests, even if the book is dreadful. I once again refer to the books given out in france, which are hardback, 20cm squared, and lovely stories. You can also have a beer and macarons in mcdonalds in france, so I think they're ahead on several fronts!
