To think about work over the weekend

Mrs1234 · 06/04/2025 12:00

50% of my weekends are wasted thinking about the pile of work that I have to get through. I cannot relax or enjoy myself, all I am thinking about is a 1-3 hour gap,m which I can use to finish some work and make a head start on other tasks. I hate, hate my job but it offers a good wage for me, as I have very little marketable skills. I will be logging on at 9:30 today and probably going to sleep at 12 and feel like rubbish the next day.

Yanbu as I find it really hard to switch off too. I've improved since starting meditation and really working on being more present. I've switched jobs to a better paid one I enjoy more too and weirdly find it less stressful despite being full on. Try to take back some control over your time and focus, but don't be angry with yourself for being committed. That's a waste of energy.

A lot of your issues are caused by you,

I I I - stop, instead, start working to capacity, and when a task comes in that's outside capacity, tell whoever is requesting it "I'm won't have capacity to complete this task til next Wednesday " - need it before then? OK tell me which is higher priority, X piece, Y piece - and ill get on it right away.

Stop doing it all and instead work to capacity. If your over your capacity then raise it with management and cut your workload.

You're causing your issues by doing it all. Manage your time better. No one will thank you for killing yourself or making your home life shit. If you got hit by a bus tomorrow, your job would be filled within a month. Don't kill yourself for a role

Are you a teacher? This is completely normal in education unfortunately. Virtually every secondary teacher I know (as well as myself) feels like this permanently. We don't really have the option of standing in front of a class and saying "I didn't have time to plan this lesson."

It's common in in all kinds of jobs @sophiasnail not just teaching. At least you have 2 weeks off for Easter to look forward to. Hope you have a good break
