To buy a new pram when I don’t want one

I have a 3 month old DD who initially hated the buggy but is slowly coming around to it. We have a travel system (I hate it just as much as DD) and it’s only been used a handful of times as I do most naps in the sling. Suddenly she’s become a really light sleeper and wakes so easily in the sling, I can’t sit down, have to constantly bounce/ walk, if I meet a friend she’ll wake while I’m talking etc so I’ve been thinking of trying to do her naps at home in the quiet, only problem is she won’t nap in the crib during the day so I’d have to use the dreaded buggy, I hate it, it’s too big for our tiny maisonette and I hate faffing around with it, it also doesn’t fit in the door without being taken apart/ folded (yes we are idiots for buying it without thinking of the size). I am debating whether it’s worth getting a smaller pram like a yoyo and I can do naps there easily( she’d still wake up if we went out but maybe not as easily?) I love baby wearing though and I’d be a bit sad to stop that. What I’m asking is the light sleeper a developmental thing/ a phase? I’d rather not spend more money on a pram I don’t want but seems inevitable. Will it pass so I don’t have to stop doing naps there? I suppose I could use the sling for her wake windows if out and naps in pram going forward.

I was hoping to do this but with the sling she is waking up if I sit down for a coffee or even walking around places. This is why I’m
thinking naps at home and in a buggy, quieter and I can put a rocket on it. I wish she wasn’t such a light sleeper, I love the sling.

Yes, she might at first, but if she does you just keep walking! For me at least, the pram was very necessary and I needed all mine to get used to it, so I just kept going. She's still so little, and her sleep habits/preferences could change many times. If you can nudge it in the way you want it, now's the time to start ☺️

My first would only ever nap in the buggy. I did all the crib things, it didn’t work.

At 3 months now you’ve potentially got up to 1,000 naps left. Life’s too short, get a buggy that you don’t dread using and sell the other.

Could be the 3 months sleep regression? Give it a fortnight or so and see if it changes x

Yes we’re going through that definitely. She was sleeping from 7-7 with two wakings. Now she’s waking non stop argh!

I don’t think there are any prams on the market that are advertised as safe for overnight sleep? Which prams are you talking about?

Uppababy vista is definitely cleared for overnight sleep. It has a special vent on the bottom that you open when using it overnight.

@AleaEim , if you hate your buggy then definitely buy a new one. You are going to be using it for a long time to come! Nearly everyone i know ends up with two buggies eventually - usually a bigger travel system type and then a travel / cabin buggy. But also remember that some babies just hate the bassinet and are much happier when they can move into the seat. So depending on your travel system, might be worth looking at the seat options (for example, my vista has a special insert you can buy to make the seat safe for the 0-6m period, which might suit one baby better than the bassinet).

We have an uppababy vista as our main buggy and an uppababy minu v2 for our travel buggy (so we can swap accessories about and also the vista bassinet fits on the minu frame for if you need something small for public transport). But I also tried the Joolz Aer+ and Cybex Coya in the shop, which i really liked as well. Do you have an independent baby shop or a big john lewis near you? I've always found having an actual push of one in the shop to be more helpful than just choosing online.

My lo was the same! It was 3 weeks of hell!!!!!! Then they just magically snapped out of it and went back to their usual sleep pattern. No advice, but you will get through this. ❤️

And yanbu to change pram if you hate it. I know 2 people who hated their prams and decided to get new ones after a few months.
