How to approach this parking one

I live at the end of a cul de sac. Dh just got home from work unable to get the car down the road so had to park out on the main road. We have a driveway that’s empty but he couldn’t get to it. If I’d needed to get out of the road, I couldn’t. Thankfully I’m not on call this week but next week I am and this is how our new neighbours park!

So no emergency vehicles could access either! I'd be having a word with the new neighbours asap.

How you approach it, is to tell them you can't get through to park on your own driveway?

Strangecat · 06/04/2025 00:45

Not good! I would definitely explain to them that due to your work, being on call, you need full access and no obstruction. Plus the fact that emergency services can’t access too. Hopefully they will understand and make an effort to be considerate. idiots!

I would have knocked on the door and told them to move the car

TeenLifeMum · 06/04/2025 00:57

Thing is, I’ve no idea who parked first. New neighbours might have and old neighbours, used to parking in “their” spot could have parked second. That’s the only thing that’s stopped me knocking tonight.

I would have sat in the road and blown my horn and woken the whole street.

Do you have a horn for these specific purposes 😂

OP knock on them and tell them they can’t park like that. Absolutely ridiculous and selfish!

Ponderingwindow · 06/04/2025 01:26

It really doesn’t matter who parked first. The road is blocked. Knock on doors if you can identify the car owners. Call the relevant authorities if you do not.

This has happened one time on my street. Thankfully it is a sleepy area and the police were around to sort it within a few minutes. It never happened again.
