Lounge Pass and Dragon Pass (airports)

Does anyone have these and could give me an idiot’s guide?

My understanding with the lounge pass, you can just turn up at an airport lounge. The Dragonpass for security may (may not?) need booked?

I am a bit (a lot!) confused!

I've never heard of a Dragon Pass, but we regularly buy passes for airport lounges rather than have to struggle to get seats & food in the main areas of airports.

We just buy the passes when we book our holidays once we have the departure details, as it works out not much more expensive once you factor in the free food etc?

Dragonpass is used for lounge access but is limited to a certain number of visits per year, and usually only for Plaza Premium or Aspire lounges.

Lounge Access I think is for the Airline lounges, BA, Emirates and so on.

Sorry for any confusion. This comes with a type of credit card that we have just opened, it’s not something we are purchasing.

I have Dragonpass through my bank account. It's really easy to use, just download the app and log in then very simple to book. In my local airport it isn't always available to pre book at busy times, and when those slots are full you will never get a walk in either. But I have used it all over the world for lounge bookings. Once my 6 free passes for the year are gone you can buy them half price which I think is pretty good value compared to what you pay in the bars and restaurants

Thank you. I think I’ve misunderstood.

It is LoungeKey for the lounges and Mastercard® Airport Security Fast Track for the fast track security.

I still don’t really understand it but I think it’s along the lines of what you’re describing, which sounds really straightforward! I’m sure we don’t have a restriction on the number of lounge visits though.

@Nina1013 , we have Lounge Key with one of our cards. You need to find out if there are any limitations on your usage, ours is unlimited and also comes with other perks such as premium security. You may have other perks too but I don’t know about your specific card.
We fly long haul at least once a year and since these are business class flights we don’t use the card because we have access to the airline lounge. Airline lounges are generally much better but both have food and drinks available, both can get busy and you can have to hunt for a seat.
You can just tip up and present your card but we use The no 1 lounges in the UK and they regularly turn people away who haven’t booked. You can book on their website it costs £6.00 each and at certain airports that includes premium security, you can also take guests with our card at £23.00 each again you’d need to check with your card supplier. We’ve never booked abroad and just show our card and walk in. It’s a nice thing to have, enjoy!

Your card sounds similar to ours (it says the same about cost for a guest and yes unlimited usage and premium security). Is it linked to an account which has quite a high qualification criteria to be eligible for the card? Without being too specific!

I have a Dragon Pass and always the book the lounge in advance. Sometimes people can be turned away because they are full. We had a delay in Budapest and did manage to get in. My card has 6 passes a year and I use it to take guests in without paying. Mine comes with my travel insurance from Barclays.

Airfixkitwidow · 05/04/2025 09:57

We've got Dragonpass and used it last week. Just turn up at the airport lounge and if there's space they will let you in. But it is risky, I have been turned away from one lounge but was offered another. And some lounges are more worth it than others... Don't waste a pass on sharm el sheikh.

You do need to book the premium security. Well worth the £4.20 it currently costs.
