Yes that's a high CRP but there are many reasons it can be raised - infection and inflammation being most common.

If there is nothing else going on then your body could be fighting something behind the scenes your GP is correct to go do it again soon to see if its reduced.

Why did you go to the GP? What symptoms sent you there and what else have the tested for? (Bloods and other diagnostic tests)

FWIW my CRP was recently at 50 when I had a burst cyst on my knee.

It's not really high, mine goes to over 400 when I'm having an autoimmune flare. It's most likely due to a minor infection like a cold or sore throat. I wouldn't be worried at that level

MrsBrown2024 · 04/04/2025 18:37

@Crunchymumi just went for tests for been tired all the time. And my nana and auntie has thyroid problems and diabetes so it was a general all over check, this just doesn’t help when I have health anxiety:(

@CheesyRaverthank you … it just doesn’t help and sends me over thinking even though the dr just said get another test in a few weeks.

I don’t feel poorly but the week before my test I was ill and practically lost my voice . X

It's good the dr is being thorough- not that it makes it easier Flowers it probably is due to the previous weeks illness, hopefully the next one will be fine.

Chocaholic4672 · 04/04/2025 19:03

It’s above normal but is absolutely not at a concerning level. Likely to be low level infection or inflammation.

mindutopia · 04/04/2025 19:12

Yes, it’s high (ish) for someone who is otherwise well. I have cancer and mine is often around 200 from treatment (I feel like a rat’s ass!). Anything else come up abnormal? CRP can also be high when you have an infection, which does make sense if you were ill the week before.

SallyD00lally · 04/04/2025 19:14

Download the NHS app.

You can look at your blood test results there and it has a little scale to tell you whether it's high/low etc.

DragonBalls · 04/04/2025 19:21

Also CRP tends to lag behind so will still be raised for a while after recovering from an infection. It’s completely normal for GPs to repeat tests for non-specific and likely inconsequential blood test results slightly out of range. They might consider adding in additional inflammatory markers if they didn’t already check. I imagine that your anxiety could contribute to you feeling tired.

It's high and needs investigating but there's a million and one things that could be causing it so don't panic. Mine was over 200 when I was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. It took more than two weeks for it to return to normal so it's entirely possible it's due to your previous infection.

JustLikeThatBluebird · 04/04/2025 19:24

And yes, there's a couple of days lag time with CRP. I went home after my pneumonia after two nights in hospital but I almost wasn't allowed because my CRP had increased since admission. Because I was feeling so much better they decided they were happy to let me go home as they thought it was probably due to the lag time. And I was fine so they were right (and I was very glad to go home!).
