Unintentional weight loss/ also diastias recti advice?

sorry for the rambled long post- just want to let out my concerns.

to cut a long story shorter, i've lost a lost of weight since having my second son. i've been to the GP and had a lot of bloods done and a scan on a lump in my neck and an internal scan of my reproductive organs. i've also had a FIT test done as i requested this to rule anything bowel related out.

My weight pre-pregnancy with DS1 sat around 10 st 7 ish (regular gym go-er 4x a week and very muscular) then after having DS2 last year my weight shot gone down to 9st 6. i'm getting so many unwanted comments from family saying i'm looking thin. I do work full time and barely get a break anymore. So part of me is like, is it because i'm just constantly on the go with a heavy baby on my hip, and because i don't go to the gym i've lost a load of muscle which is making me appear thinner / weight less or could i be seriously ill and the GPs have missed something?, i eat 3x meals a day and have dessert and sometimes snack also.

my periods have been ridiculously heavy, as in leaking through my jeans after having in a maxi tampon and and maxi pad within 1.5 hrs.

Also, i'm unsure if i have diastias recti? when i lie down and tense my core, i can stick my fingers quite low into my belly button and it feels like jelly.. and the muscles around my belly button are rock hard and prominent. Also one side is quite tender, but it's the side i hold my 1 year old on (which has been a lot recently due to teething)
Does this sound like i could have it?

I do feel like i need to go back to GP but just wouldn't know where to start, as i've been through numerous tests before and not a lot came up... just low iron and vit D. I've also been in that place loads in the last few weeks after having sinusitis, flu and bacterial tonsillitis.

Again apologies for the long message but if anyone has been through similar i would appreciate any info x

How tall are you? Rather relevant

Shwish · 03/04/2025 20:31

Has your thyroid been checked? Super weight loss and lump in neck could be overactive thyroid / hashimotos. Any other symptoms? Racing heart, feeling hot?

Bloompetal · 03/04/2025 20:34

Op do you think you may have a health anxiety?

Lockdownbaby2021 · 03/04/2025 20:44

i'm 5 ft 6.
My thyroid has been checked, came back normal. this is what i thought/ think i had. As i'm very hungry also. i do sometimes get heart palpitations but on a whole my blood pressure is on the lower side (always has been that way).
Yes i have health anxiety, have done since i was a child. But went through an amazing couple of years before my first (born in 2021) where i was extremely fit and had no major health concerns.

Before 2021….so 4 years ago

op you have started dozens of threads about health worries. I think your focus needs to be addressing our health anxiety. Your weight is not remotely concerning and losing a stone over a a not short period of time is also nothing to. E worried about

Sounds like you're losing weight through being very active, and maybe not eating enough calories? Presumably you've had thyroid checked as well as all the other bloods.
I used to lose weight very easily and become underweight, I think this was linked to endometriosis as the heavier and more frequent the bleeding, the more weight I lost. Since completing my family and having endo surgery (including a full hysterectomy with ovaries saved) I can keep weight on much better, although I'm not sure exactly why. The surgeon discovered my womb had flipped over and was fused to my bladder andc section scar, pulling other organs out of place and causing internal bleeding and inflammation.

After the surgery he told me he'd also fixed the diastasis recti caused by the c-section, as the muscles had pulled apart. Apparently most women who have c-sections are left with diastasis, and the only way to fix it is surgery (they pull the muscles back together and stitch them tightly, which can't be done straight after birth. He also re-stitched all the muscle layers that the obstetrician had cut, as they hadn't healed the right way). It was amazing being able to use my core muscles properly again, so it might be worth looking into surgery if the gap bothers you or is causing pelvic problems.

I have low vit D so take the highest dose supplements daily, low vit D can make you feel very tired, weak and lower immunity. Like low iron it's easily fixed by taking supplements each night and improving diet.

Are you breastfeeding?

Lockdownbaby2021 · 03/04/2025 20:54

@Bloompetal thank you. yes haha looking back i have started a lot haven't I.
I have no close friends so no one to speak to about my worries.
Basically my mind is in overdrive. My dad came over the other day and accused me of losing weight on purpose and told me i was making myself sick. Which I am 100% not and my partner had to laugh at him. Anyway the comments he made about me being thin has made me worry so much as i know myself i'm eating more than enough and i don't know what more i can do and the fact he thinks I look ill obviously makes me think something is seriously wrong with me.

that's interesting. Sorry to hear your struggle with endemitriosis. I'm presuming i don't have this as nothing has come up on my internal scans? saying that I don't know why my periods have become so heavy the last few months.

i didn't have a c-section, a vaginal delivery both times. first was assisted with ventouse/ episiotomy and the second was normal vaginal but very quick.

What vitamin D supplement did you take unsure if my over the counter one may be too weak?
i have been taking iron prescribed by my GP but it makes me dizzy and very gassy and nauseous so stopped taking them.x

you’ve only lost a couple of pounds since your last thread about your weight… almost a year ago OP

this should not be concerning you

your anxiety should be addressed

Lockdownbaby2021 · 03/04/2025 21:32

@Bloompetal yes i am aware. I think it's just because more people are bringing my weight up, family, regulars at my work, colleague over the last couple of months so part of me thinks i look really poorly even though my partner says he isn't concerned that i am under eating.

I just don't see why my parents, who I only see briefly a few times a month, are throwing such strong accusations at me. 😪When i don't live with them anymore for them to even get a glimpse into my day to day life these days.
Obviously I love them but its caused some tension between us now. I feel uncomfortable seeing them incase they make a comment about my weight.

When they left my house after the accusations, I said to my partner, 'can you see now why i am the way i am with my anxiety' 🙃
