Hi,
I’ve just lost a chunk of weight and am finding all sorts of weird things. My feet have shrunk! Feet! Didn’t expect to go down a shoe size.
my rings are all super loose, even my glasses feel too big for my head.
Nobody at work has said a thing, which I think is probably people trying to be respectful, but when im out and about I’m sure people are treating me different, although it could be in my head?
Has anyone else notices these things?

I can only speak to my own experience and the experience of those I discuss this in detail with, but everyone I know who is on WLIs and successfully losing weight has moved to a low carb, high protein, high fibre diet, is tracking their calories and ensuring that they eat to a deficit, and has added in cardio and strength training exercises. I am at the gym every day, either swimming, doing C25K or at a class doing circuits with weights.

My body fat has reduced, my muscle mass has increased, my resting heart rate has decreased.

I agree that the injections make it easier, but they do not make it easy.

Of course the injections make it easy! It is easy to eat much less if you are not hungry. You literally do not have the physical impulse to eat.
All that tracking etc you describe is not the hard bit. If it were the hard bit, you wouldn’t need the injections. You could just do exactly what you are doing and lose the weight. I don’t think there is anything wrong with taking the injections but it is so disingenuous to not admit they take away the hardest part of losing weight. If they help so little and it is all your hard work making the difference, why do you even take them?

Well, I’m taking it because I’m Diabetic and it’s replaced my insulin and metformin, but even if that were not the case it does not prevent hunger.

it reduces hunger, it makes it easier to resist but I do still get hungry throughout the day and I eat around 1400 calories a day now as my weight has decreased, when I started it was 1600-1800 calories to be at a deficit.

It’s far easier to reduce your calorie intake when your appetite is significantly reduced. I have a family member and a colleague on them - both have found it easy! Because the drugs reduce the food noise (hunger/temptation) which is often why people struggle without drugs.

Im sorry but I think it’s important to be completely honest about the drugs and their effects. They’re not a small crutch, they’re the sole reason why people who didn’t lose weight previously are now losing weight. They do the hard lifting.

I am on the WLI and I would have to agree, taking away the desire (and the ability) to over eat unquestionably makes it easier but I do think it isn’t “easy”, there are so many side effects that you have to put up with! But this debate (quite apart from the OP which was different altogether! Sorry OP) misses the point that being slim without WLI isn’t some moral win over those using WLI. It is undeniably better for your health and however you get there is fine.

MinnieCoops · 02/04/2025 18:37

My feet have shrunk too. And rather grimly I noticed that I get a loads more stares from men when I’m thinner.

MinnieCoops · 02/04/2025 18:39

Also I have to say that the WLI definitely made it easy for me. How can they not when you don’t feel hungry and the food noise is gone?

I had a friend who lost a lot of weight over the Xmas hols. When I next saw her I commented on it and said she looked really well. She was chuffed to bits because she said she had lost 2st and I was the first person to mention it.

I set myself a new years target last year to say nice things if I think them and to pass on compliments.

TheChosenTwo · 02/04/2025 18:59

I’ve lost 4 stone and gone down 3 dress sizes, only a few people have commented which I’ve absolutely hated, I don’t talk about my weight to anyone, it’s no one else’s business what medication I’m on so I don’t appreciate anyone bringing up my physical appearance for any reason, just think it’s rude.
Dh doesn’t even know I’m taking it and noticed my weight loss about 3 stone in, asked if I was on a diet.
don’t know if people are looking at me as I tend to wear sunglasses everywhere and big headphones and literally block out the world around me.
Close friends have just commented on my clothes and left body conversations out of it. I don’t mind that, I like talking about clothes and I’ve bought loads of new ones to replace everything that no longer fits.
And I’ve found losing weight on MJ pretty effortless tbh, no major side effects, no nausea or sickness or tiredness. Losing a bit more hair than usual but it’s to be expected. Still walking 10,000 steps a day and swimming 3km a week and 2 spin classes but I did all of this before. It’s literally just made me stop craving crap/sugar/takeaways/crisps/fried foods. Just no interest in eating anything like that at all. Have eaten 2 bags of crisps in 22 weeks whereas pre MJ it was at least 2 bags a day.

So much judgement and so many assumptions!

what's the judgement?
of course it's easier to lose weight if you're not hungry. How could it not be/

I find people tend not to comment on weight loss unless its a huge amount and they havent seen you for a while. Ive had a few people not recognize me after losing over 100Ibs.
The shoe thing is lovely though! I had some Converse that I can finally wear again which Im thrilled about.

One funny thing Ive noticed is that I keep pulling myself into doors! You know those heavy glass shop doors? I keep miscalculating and thinking my body weight will help me pull the door open and just wind up yanking myself into the door instead!!😅

That’s funny! But it’s such a force of habit will take a while to rewire your brain

Why does EVERY thread on weight loss have to end up in an argument about bloody injections!!!

Seriously, it’s like a cult 🙄

buckeejit · 02/04/2025 23:12

I’m very fat but losing weight having finally got ‘in the zone’. I’ve 1.5 stone off & now at perimenopause it’s so much harder than it was when I was younger. Having been various shades of overweight to morbidly obese, my experience is the vast majority of people treat me better when I’m less fat. I think it’s that people dismiss overweight people as maybe they’re not deemed as inspirational or as someone who would know how to do or fix something, (otherwise surely they’d have fixed themselves?!)

BeachRide · 02/04/2025 23:16

I'm now of the age where if I lose a lot of weight people are afraid its due to something sinister.

Also, I lost fat in my temples before my hips. WTF, body?!

Teado · 02/04/2025 23:28

I avoid commenting in case someone is ill or bereaved.
