Oddly, I emailed customer services yesterday about this yesterday! The reply was that the vital ingredient still can’t be sourced and they don’t have a return date for it.

MissyB1 · 01/04/2025 21:50

I've been looking for it for weeks. Nothing else works 🙁

emmetgirl · 01/04/2025 22:10

It’s so frustrating. There is nothing else that works on my lips. It’s the absolute best. When I see it in stock I buy as much as I can. I miss it!

After running low on my emergency Blistex supply (I keep several tubes just in case), I did a little more digging about what it is fixing and what the key ingredient might be.

Many people use Blistex to fix the sore splits that seasonally turn up in the corner of the mouth or at the edge of the nostril. That's why I use it; it fixes what I thought must be a type of cold sore within a couple of days. Well, it turns out that other help may be on hand. I now suspect this condition is actually ANGULAR CHEILITIS (Google it), which is either a fungal or bacterial infection and not a type of cold sore (herpes simplex). If that's something you have experienced, read on.

I tried clotrimazole (Cannesten) for a couple of days, but that did nothing. So, I tried terbinafine hydrochloride (a common athlete's foot treatment), and my sore healed in 48 hours.

In short, it's fantastic if Blistex is returning to the shelves, but it may be worth considering a commonly available antifungal and/or antibacterial remedy if the source of the problem is actually angular cheilitis. :-)

It’s not if I sign in and it selects my local store. It’s just available as a sort of product page

FinallyOnTheUp · 07/05/2025 20:42

@Darkambergingerlily Definitely shows as available for me, I can add it to my basket. I'll add some to my next shop and see if it arrives!

AC can also be a symptom of low vit B - a supplement cured mine!

Ilovegermany · 07/05/2025 20:56

I keep seeing these posts about Blistex. We don’t seem to have any problems in Germany. We have lots of different kinds and in my local store there are more than 20 available of each.

That's handy to know; thanks! I take an adult vitamin tablet, an iron tablet, a high-strength vitamin D tablet, and a glass of home-brewed kefir in which I've soaked a tablespoon of chia seeds every day, so I suspect it is unlikely to be low vitamin B in my case, but there's no harm in taking extra just in case. I'll try that next time.😎

It didn't come on my last Tesco order, but has today Smile So it's definitely available again at least
