Ex claiming I’ve defrauded him

Not sure where to put this post as isn’t really AIBU after no contact with an abusive ex who was addicted to crack for 3 years he’s unblocked me on Facebook today and messaged me saying why have I taken £169 of credit out with littlewoods in his name I think in 2020 as it’s to an address I lived at then, and where he lived at with me. I have not took anything out in his name, however he’s saying it’s related to my email which if I was doing fraud on someone I wouldn’t use my own email! All I can think is as he used to take my phone at night and raid through it that he’s done it himself and sold the things for drugs and has either forgot or pinning it on me so he doesn’t have to pay!
he said he’s sent it to the fraud team. Should I contact the fraud team myself or just wait and see what happens everyone’s saying they probably won’t chase it for £169 but I’m not a thief never have been so I’m now overthinking this! Any advice on what I should do other than just blocking him which I’ve done :)

It’s five years ago.

Ignore him.

femsrad · 01/04/2025 20:03

Ignore him. Block him. Don’t reply.

DenholmElliot11 · 01/04/2025 20:05

yes just ignore. what a bizzare thing for him to say.

stargazer02 · 01/04/2025 20:07

If it's associated with your email presumably you can log in and find out?

UpUpUpU · 01/04/2025 20:07

Why don't you have him blocked? Block immediately and move on with your life.

savethatkitty · 01/04/2025 20:08

He knows he did it. He's probably being hounded by debt collectors so he's trying to get out of ot by saying it was you. Block & forget. Nothing will come of it.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 01/04/2025 20:09

I'd assume that he owes his dealer £170 and doesn't have it so he thought he might panic you into sending him roughly the right amount to shut him up.

Vileperson · 01/04/2025 20:11

His bank will do nothing! I work in fraud and you have 120days from the date of the transaction to raise a transaction as fraud in order to raise a chargeback, the bank will not even look into! Block him. Don't interact!

TY78910 · 01/04/2025 20:12

And what is it that you supposedly purchased in littlewoods? If he knows it’s been taken out “under your email” then he will have other information relating to this purchase - what it was to start with. If he can’t give you any more information, then it’ll be easy to catch him out in his lie.

YourAmberHam · 01/04/2025 20:13

He blocked me years ago before I cloud block him, don’t worry he’s been blocked now.
I’ve looked thru my email and there isn’t anything it’s an email account I don’t really use so wouldn’t have seen if he had done it years ago.
I will forget about it I’m sure nothing will happen. I’m just overthinking I’m gonna end up witha criminal record for something I’ve not done haha (dramatic, i know)

I'd have some fun with this. Pretend you're gonna bank transfer it over - ask for his details and keep telling him you've sent it - make him go on a wild goose chase lol.

JoyousPinkPeer · 01/04/2025 20:13

Block

That is admitting fraud and a stupid idea.

MoreChocPls · 02/04/2025 06:24

Ignore. Certainly don’t imply you’re going to return the money as it’s an admission of guilt if it were to escalate.
