NC

DD 17 has ticks. I can usually switch off and ignore.

The latest two are driving me insane. I just need to write it down and try and relax. As these two are just awful.

  1. Whistling. Random bursts of whistling. It also sets the dogs off.
  2. Shouting Rah. Which is in between a rah like boo and a bark, My nerves are shredded. I can be in the kitchen cooking or reading an email or something and she just bursts in shouting Rah really loudly.

AIBU to just want to walk around with headphones or earplugs on. I just need 5 minutes. Of. Silence. Please. 😂

Bless you, that must be hard.

Deep breaths.

Yanbu. It's hard isn't it, she can't help it but it must have you on edge.
Consider getting some Loops, they're earplugs but you can get ones that don't completely block sound, just tone it down a bit. I have autistic daughters who use them at school and can still hear the teacher.

Have you had your daughter assessed for Tourette's Syndrome? It sounds to me as though she may have it, from your description of her behaviours.
The tics you describe are nit as bad as they can be. Some people with Tourette's swear, or make inappropriate comments at total stranger when they're out in public, so your daughter's tics are quite mild in comparison.
I'd suggest you sit down with her and talk to her about the tics (please don't tell her you think they're awful) . Just tell her you've noticed that she seems to have the tics, ask her if she's feeling anxious about anything, since this could be causing the tics. If she says she isn't, ask her if she'd go to the doctors with you to have her assessed (s/he would probably have to book you an appointment with a psychologist, who would be able to assess her).

@GhostHunterPlay DD has ASD. She is freaking out about something that’s happening at the weekend. I would NEVER EVER negatively discuss her ticks to her or around her. Hence, why I posted here.
