Should I be worried about my 6 year old coming home with this?

He wrote it on the back of an r.e. worksheet.

I just asked him why and he said “because I don’t think there is a god!”

I’m just worried what his teachers would say if they saw it!

Why would the teachers care? Even if they are religious, which they might not be, they wont (or shouldn’t) be surprised that not everyone in their class believes in god.
I’d tell my child that they’re right, but also that writing on the back of the worksheet probably wasn’t what the teacher wanted them to be doing.

I wouldn't worry. My daughter got told the Easter story and announced Jesus was a zombie 😆

His prerogative if he wants to hold that opinion, the teacher couldn’t tell him off for his belief. However, it is offensive/disrespectful of other religions to write that message on something symbolic of that religion (whichever religion it may be) as he appears to have done here and you should gently point that out to him.

I think I that’s where I am too.

If he was asked to write down what he thinks, it’s absolutely fine. If he just decided to write it on an RE lesson I think it is probably worth a discussion.

We can all believe or not, but RE tends to be taught by explaining beliefs not forcing or asserting them. That respect shouldn’t work only in one direction. I’d suggest he just keeps his beliefs to himself unless asked - in which case I think it’s absolutely fine . But if he hadn’t been asked and had written this to be seen he’s moved closed to asserting which isn’t fair on others.

My autistic 13 year old told his RE teacher that he doesn’t believe in God and that it’s all stories. This is at a Catholic school.
The RE teacher still thinks he’s great and he always tries hard in class.
Don’t worry it’s a non issue.

My daughter has said since the age of six that she doesn’t believe in god, my dad is a vicar!!
Im not religious so doesn’t bother me, everyone is entitled to an opinion I suppose
