Like my job but hate the travelling side - HELP

I'm in a bit of a dilemma and would really appreciate some advice. I work permanently from home in an events coordination role, which I generally love. However, the job requires me to travel the world 5-6 times a year, and I honestly hate it. The thought of travelling for work is really starting to affect how I feel about the job, to the point where I’m very unhappy and dread it.

The problem is, I don’t know if my role could exist without the travel aspect. I have good perks and enjoy the actual work, so I don’t want to look for a new job but I’m wondering if I should speak to my manager about how I feel. I worry that if I do, they’ll say the travel is non-negotiable, and I’ll have put myself on their radar as someone who isn’t fully committed. We are also slightly short staffed and they would be buggered if I left. I've been here 2 and half years.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Would you bring this up with your manager and see if there’s any flexibility, or is it best to start looking elsewhere?

Could you do your job or a different role in the company without travel? If not maybe it's not the job for you and you should look for other jobs.

I've considered speaking to other managers and asking if any new roles pop up to please let me know but managers speak to managers, and I would feel awful if my manager found out I was looking elsewhere. I work for a corporate global company and a lot of the other roles you need degrees, which I do not have.

It sounds like it's worth asking in that case? Even if you can do half the travel?

I'm just not sure how to bring it up, considering my job entails it. How would I word it to my manager? I just find it exhausting and no longer enjoy it. I want to know if there's another way I can keep my job without having to travel.

I don’t think that’s possible. You are responsible for the event from conception to execution. You MUST be there to make sure the event is happening as you expected. To me, it’s part of the job

Hmmmm I think you might be on tricky ground here... I work in events too and travel is a massive part of it - being on site for the client is a pretty fundamental element. It’s always been in my contracts that international travel is/is likely to be required so I would absolutely check whether this is in yours.
