Should charities get rid of their donation bins in car parks as they are a magnet for fly tipping

I seriously doubt any of the stuff put into the bins sees the inside of a charity shop as mindless vandals set the bins on fire, throw a bottle of something (such as wee) with no bottle cap on. So contents are damaged.

Every single charity bin I see, has piles of bags of donations and fly tipped items such as broken TVs, broken kids bikes, chest of drawers with two drawers missing etc. I doubt the tossers would dump these if it weren't for the charity bin. An extreme example of fly tipping by charity bins

If and when the bins get emptied, the staff do not take anything outside the bin as that's fly tipping as the weather has been at it and possibly animals have used the area as a toilet. Fly tipping is also leaving bags by CS outside opening hours. Even many CS have signs saying this.Charity shop during the 2nd lockdown

Why do charities still have these bins? Surely they know how much is sellable when they open bins and collect the contents.

Please take your donations when CS are open. Ring them first as some will not accept further donations for the rest of the week as overwhelmed as not much room in stockroom.

If they emptied them regularly it would help. The ones round our way are always full

Due to the issues of fly tipping all the recycling bins and clothes bins were removed by the council from our local Tesco carpark.

The one near me needs to be emptied more regularly. We are rural and have one well used one in our village but it’s always overflowing.

The other day I saw one of those big white bags full of builders' waste next to a charity bin in a Tesco car park. They must have had a hoist to get it off their truck, or else they pushed it out the back of a van.

I suppose in some places they could install security cameras, but it's a sad world when one has to resort to this.😢

Did the fly tipping stop once the bins were removed?

Where I live a massive amount have been removed already thanks to the reasons you said.
There's now hardly any facilities to donate (or recycle) so there is literally junk all over the place. People just seem to leave their crap anywhere and everywhere.
It's depressing.
It's worse than when the bins were provided.

I'd remove them as only a tiny fraction of what is raised goes to the charity written on the side. These are placed by private companies who pledge to give eg 10% of what is raised to the charity. They also get first dibs when the box is opened. Total con.
