to want my feet to "do" summer shoes without the need for beige sockettes and the like?

I am just dying to know, WHO gets through summer and wearing nice feminine sandals etc without the need for plasters / tights / beige sockettes (you know the type I mean)? Every time it gets hot I get so jealous of all those women walking around in leather shoes (or whatever) without so much as a pop sock to be seen.

Am I the only person in the world who rejects open toe sandals in the shop because I can't (gracefully) wear tights with them to stop them rubbing...? Or should I pop down to Clarks for some tan lace-ups, nice and comfy, right now?

VS lol, but I think you meant this surely:

you do know that you don't walk further than the car chauffeured limousine to the door in nice shoes don't you?

(Rather like wearing white clothes in London - pointless, they get dirty the minute you've even looked at any form of public transport)

So glad I'm not the only one who suffers dearly in hot weather [martyr look]. Cmotdibbler I can, however, definitely recommend (as a fellow bruised and be-varicosed-veined white leg person ) those fake tan moisturisers from Johnson's / Nivea. They work wonders...

ive just bought a fab pair of trendy but incredibly comfy sketchers sandles from footloacker..they have soles that look like wooden clogs but are rubbery, spongy and the foot part is fabric and roomy...only £25!..just ahvent had chance to wear them properly yet as the suns dissapeared here!

I've got a thing like a pritt stick from Boots that you rub on your feet to stop your shoes from rubbing. It works quite well and isn't as greasy as vaseline.

I was about to start a matter of life or death thread about this very thing . My new Boden sale shoes (affectionately known as the tranny shoes, as I had to go 2 sizes larger to a 42 to get them to fit) are very narrow at the front. However, I wuv them, they are fake fur with spots and I neeeeeeed to wear them.

Any tips about stretching the fronts of shoes? (I will have to do a cinderella sister otherwise)

Jane - alas they always seem to go weird on me. I bought some again this year, and its still streaky. The only time I've had brown legs was when I did the whole body professional St Tropez thing.

Little and often, cmotdibbler, little and often!

Rather like wearing in new shoes at home...

Come on people, there must be some more closet beige sockette wearers out there? You see, Bramble, this IS a life or death issue

I bought some too.

i thought they were the answer to my prayers.

They fell of my heels and bunched up under the balls of my feet.

I thought I was the only one with crap feet.

I love sockettes - great as shoes don't stick & nice to wear around the house as well!
