This is the sad part of the week preparing to go to work again on a monday

Ive changed jobs many times. I am happy doing nothing and dont want to work at all.

Sunday blues thats the thread. Eating a load of chocolate to make myself feel better

I’ve just broken into one of the Easter eggs I bought for DN-feel worse, not better though!
We’ve had a lot of changes the last couple of weeks, not for the better. There are a lot of unhappy staff atm, and I’m not sure where it leaves me, so I’m dreading the new week.
Only 17 more years to go… 😣

SparrowFeet · 23/03/2025 17:15

20 years left for me. I don't get it when people say they would be bored if they didn't work. I would have a lovely time.
I wish my parents were rich.

WarmAquaFinch · 23/03/2025 17:19

I am 37 how can I get through another 30 years of it?

backintothemeadow · 23/03/2025 17:20

I have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off which is good, if breaks the week up nicely for me.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 23/03/2025 17:21

I HATE my job. I can't leave it though as the perks are too good.

I work with someone who is extremely quiet and doesn't engage in conversation. I used to love my job so much, but we got a new boss and I had to move offices.

She is a vile human being and ticks every single trait of a sociopath.

The culture is one of nepotism so there's nowhere to go if you wanted to put a grievance in.

She is a micro manager and is constantly checking staff diaries to see where people are at any given time.

It's a bizarre work place, and I am dreading tomorrow.

Is my wage, holidays and final salary pension worth gritting my teeth for another 15 years. You betcha lol.

I don't really moan about work as it's my choice to stay, but yes, I fucking hate Sundays.

WarmAquaFinch · 23/03/2025 17:35

@ColinOfficeTrolley im same

How can i cope with having to work another 30 years when hating it?

Violashifts · 23/03/2025 17:42

Yep snap! Feel really sick.
Why is the world like this? No wonder there is a mental health crisis.

TakeMeToTheSeahorseDisco · 23/03/2025 17:54

Same here. Got made redundant last year and have moved into a career that has a high staff turnover for this particular role....I can really see why!

In an office on my own, I hate it. So much stress, curveballs thrown every day.

I also have the Sunday night blues and I'm eating chocolate too OP!

WarmAquaFinch · 23/03/2025 17:59

Thank you

It should be 4 days a week not 5. I was thinking of dropping down from 5 days to 4 days but would i be unreasonable as i guess would impact pension

it must be impacting this countries productivity if a lot of people hate work

@Violashifts the world is like this because the only thing the world cares about is profit

I left a great salary for a minimum wage job and honestly I am so much happier. Yes I’ve had to make huge lifestyle changes but I no longer have that sick feeling on a Sunday. I’ve 20 more years to retirement and I’m not sure I would have made it in that job.

Azureshores · 23/03/2025 18:03

I remember as a kid on a Sunday crying when the Darling Buds of May theme tune started at the end of the episode bc it meant I had to go to bed and it was school the next day!

Its a horrible feeling when you hate your job/school. I managed to solve it by becoming a sahm and I have no plans to return to work! I do a bit for dh's business at home.

Is changing jobs a possibility?

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 23/03/2025 18:05

I didn't go back after having the kids and haven't regretted it for a second. Well aware how vulnerable it makes me in terms of relying on my husband, and maybe I'll have to go back some day, but at least I'm not walking to work on a Monday weighing up the benefits of some kind of injury to get me out of it for a while!

Some people love their jobs though and I'm very envious of that. Wish I had the ability to work out what that was and the nerve to go for it!

WarmAquaFinch · 23/03/2025 18:08

@YesThatsATurdOnTheRug oh I know some people love their jobs at my place one person had to be told not to work during their annual leave!!!

I was a dental hygienist. Good money but hated it. Left to become a medical admin / receptionist and have since moved twice (in education now), each time gaining more experience and wage, but it’s still crap money. However, I enjoy it and don’t really dread Sunday evenings any more.

I hear you and I’m sorry you were so traumatised. I was as well and I’ll never forget that awful feeling even I’m now in my late 60’s.

Titasaducksarse · 23/03/2025 18:17

I love my job but I'm a bit anxious for tomorrow as been on leave and also someone's just gone off sick which will directly impact on me. Once I know manager has a plan on how to manage the situation I'll feel better.

It was the theme tune to Antiques Roadshow for me,right up until the day I retired.I used to get a sick feeling deep inside.I still feel it now really-it just won't leave!

SweetSonia · 23/03/2025 18:21

Take a look around and try to find employment that you may enjoy / challenge you.
people change jobs every 3 years on average.
Find yourself a career that you will look forward to

CantFollowInstructions · 23/03/2025 18:24

I used to love my job until the company was sold. The new boss is not great and the atmosphere is toxic now. Loads of colleagues have already left. I'm currently pregnant and currently just waiting to see whether it sticks (12 weeks now but I've already had one miscarriage at 17 weeks). If everything goes well my plan is to go on maternity leave and use that time to look for something else. In the meantime I definitely dread Mondays.

I wish my parents were rich.

My parents are well off and my mum is still working at 70 and dad is volunteering 4 days a week at nearly 80 because they enjoy it.

DrummingMousWife · 23/03/2025 18:28

Same - I am praying I live long enough to have a retirement and not feel that awful morning feeling again.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 23/03/2025 18:32

I don't get the Sunday night blues anymore - well, Monday nights, cause I work compressed hours Tues to Fri.

What makes the difference is that I mostly WFH, and because I have worked for years for dysfunctional workplaces. I now work for an equally dysfunctional workplace, but I have a niche that isn't really affected by it, and I resoundingly don't give a fuck so long as I discharge my duties.

I work flexibly full time around my son, and have no inbox fear popping on to do tasks any time in the evening.

I heartily recommend not giving a fuck.

Soonenough · 23/03/2025 18:34

Makes me feel better about being a SAHM for years . But be warned the pension side of working is hugely important now more than ever . I think more people enjoyed work , their colleagues in previous times as there was not huge profit expectations . I did work in an environment with regular tea breaks- with a tea lady ! One hour lunches and overtime pay . Most people seemed to be happy enough , retail staff treated much better than now . Regular 9 -5 for most businesses. This was 90s so not olde worlde days. Lacking job satisfaction will result in bad mental health issues on our future .
Such difficult times for families .

TheChosenTwo · 23/03/2025 18:34

Sundays have been my favourite day for a long time but I think it’s because I enjoy my job and don’t dread Monday morning and logging on. Also I wfh on Mondays so I don’t have an early start and commute - I do have to get up early to get ds up and fed before he leaves for school but then I can leisurely get myself sorted.
Can you change what you do? Not always as easy or simplistic I realise but it’s had a huge impact on my life.
