Is there a test for heart disease?

I’ve been having on/off niggly pain around my heart area for a while now. It isn’t severe but it feels a bit like a burning ache when it happens. When it first happened I went to a&e but bloods, ECG and X-ray all came back ok.

Im now wondering what the chances of it being an issue with arteries or inflammation and how/if these can be tested routinely?

Of course it could be something as simple as a pulled muscle but I don’t want to take any chances.

Sounds like heartburn/indigestion?

Not routine but maybe as part of a private cardiac health screen. You could get echocardiogram, stress test, bloods, cholesterol test, and a thing called a cardiac calcium scan, which detects calcium deposits in the arteries.

Invasive tests like angiograms would only be performed if indicated due to severe cardiac symptoms I think.

There is a blood test that can be carried out, one for heart failure, however, the test alone wouldn't provide a diagnosis. It has to be in connection with ecg and possibly an echocardiogram.

editing to add, there is also a different blood test for heart attacks.

Thanks I suspected as much. The symptoms are not severe but I suppose it’s just a worrying area
to experience any odd feelings
