I’m not sure if I’m posting on the correct thread but oh well! I have an inspection from estate agent Wednesday as I rent, I’ve gone into panic mode even though my house is fairly clean/tidy so I’m not sure why I’m stressing. My DP was cutting the grass when a massive stone flicked and smashed our French doors (one side) I’ve spoken to someone who can fix it, but he said it takes about a week for him to order the glass in. Do I just be honest with the estate agent and show them proof we’re having it fixed, rearrange or knock out the side that’s cracked so they can’t tell?! Stuff like this really stresses me out.

You should have told the managing agent when it happened. Having been a landlord I would have wanted the glazing to be installed by someone who is Fensa or Certass registered. Actually this raises more questions for me: are the French doors single or double glazed if what you have described broke the glass?

It happened this evening which estate agents ain’t working until Monday so I can’t let them know, it’s double glazing.

I'd liase directly with my landlord in that case so he knew what was happening. Do you not have any direct contact with your landlord? If not then your actions are more than reasonable.

I rent places, it’s fine. You are aware that you need to sort it, and you are going to. That’s all good. Please don’t worry!

No I don’t but where they own 5/6 properties I feel like they won’t care as long as someone professional is fixing it, we’ve found someone with good reviews so let’s see! Just sod law it’s happened when we have an inspection in 3 days
