Massage chair… normal or not?

I had a pedicure today and used the massage chair, it just stayed on for the entire time.
I feel like my back has been beaten, it’s sore to touch and I can see some bruising!!!
I am really worried now, should i be?
I have a history of health anxiety however I’m in therapy and have been improving significantly. It’s making me panic that I have some sort of bleeding disorder and that’s why I have bruised (crazy I know, please be gentle with me)!!!

Why didn't you ask them to switch it off of it was causing discomfort?

This.

Londonrach1 · 22/03/2025 21:04

Did you ask that it was turned off as it was hurting you?

She doesn’t say it hurt at the time. It’s not unusual for a massage to leave you in pain later or the next day. Bruising doesn’t sound typical though in my experience.

Those massage chairs aren’t medical so may well feel too hard to some. It probably shouldn’t have bruised you but that doesn’t indicate a bleeding disorder either. It should feel better in a day or two. Good luck on your journey re HA.

It didn’t hurt at all, it felt nice!
I’ve asked my mum to have a look- she can’t see any bruises at all.
My husband looked before and it must of been red but there’s no bruises.

but it’s really sore!!!
I should add- I had full bloods in late December and all normal if that makes a difference

I got a bit carried away the first day I bought mine. Felt like I’d been beaten black and blue 🤣. Was fine within a day or two

EBearhug · 22/03/2025 21:39

I've had bruising after a deep tissue massage before.

Itsamummybear · 22/03/2025 21:40

It was my first childfree outing in about 6 months, honestly I was enjoying every second, alone, massage chair, pedicure. I probably shouldn’t have left it on the entire time but I was in another dimension 🤣

I have a massage pad thing I put on while I'm working sometimes, and it does leave me a bit sore if I overdo it. So seems normal to me.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 22/03/2025 21:47

I've used my husband's massager thing a few times and I always go too far with it. It feels great at the time, then I feel like I've been hit repeatedly across the shoulders with a crowbar the next day.

a good massage makes you feel steamrollered afterwards.
keep warm and drink plenty.
some grntle stretches will also help
