To feel this bad

I have just flew to Australia for a family wedding. I arrived yesterday and I feel AWFUL. It didn’t help that I didn’t sleep one wink on the entire journey (27 hours awake). I now have really bad anxiety and can’t sleep properly despite feeling so exhausted. The anxious feeling is just so intense! I guess I’m just shocked at how I have reacted to the journey!!! Any advice from anyone with how to deal with the anxiety?

@monkeysox ok. Thanks. Doesn’t really feel like foreboding though. Anxiety is linked to my lack of sleep and missing my husband

@Batbatbatty my mum actually has some diazepam with her which she’s offered me. But I’ve not taken anything before so I’m worried.

Jesus, jump the usual sleep aids and straight for the diazapam? You must really be sleep deprived because that's a terrible idea!

Extreme tiredness can make you feel like you've got flu and I've experienced a really depressed mood and dark thoughts through severe lack of sleep - it can definitely mess you up!

Sounds like JetLag. When I flew to Thailand for work I was awake for three days straight. By day 3 my colleagues were seriously worried.

I ended up having a few whiskeys and a natural sleep aid and felt like a new woman when I woke up.

@MightAsWellBeGretel thanks. Why do you think it’s a bad idea? I’m uncertain and don’t want to take it. But my family say it will take the “edge off” and get me to sleep.

@SapporoBaby gosh. That must have been tough! I was awake for 27/28 hours and felt dreadful. But have only had sporadic sleep since.

I agree with monkeysox. First thing I thought of was you need to get checked for DVT….long haul flight followed by massive anxiety that you can’t shake. Sounds like the sense of foreboding.

Did you move around properly on the plane?

Feelingblue11 · 22/03/2025 10:16

@KellySeveride thanks. I didn’t even think of this. I just know my anxiety is linked to missing my home.

I haven’t slept again. Think I got 2 hours. The anxiety has got a grip on me.
