To want to report this comment to her new manager

I work in a nursery and it was a staff members last day today . She’s starting in a new nursery (around 7 or 8 miles from this nursery). We’re a bit more rural. She said ‘I’m glad I’m going to work nursery in the a nursery nearer town it’s going to be different with it being that area the kids are less scrubby’. Then she said ‘not saying these kids are this nursery are scrubby’. Then someone said ‘she won’t say it today, but she’ll be saying it tomorrow when she leaves’. She also couldn’t be bothered to care for the children with it being her last day, she kept pulling faces when she had to wipe their faces after dinner etc and had a can’t be bothered attitude and basically ignored the children and treated them differently. I think this attitude is horrible and she showed her true colours with it being her last day, but imo she shouldn’t be leaving for another childcare job and the new place should know what she says

Sorry. She said ‘I’m glad I’m going to be working in a nursery nearer town. It’s going to be different, the kids are less scrubby’

What does ‘scrubby’ mean?

It’s pretty poor to judge children as being scrubby when they literally can’t control how thir parents raise them or dress them etc.

this person doesn’t not sound nurturing at all. Presumably they worked ok up until now though?

pictoosh · 20/03/2025 20:25

No you should not let her new manager know.

YourBestFriend · 20/03/2025 20:35

Do you realise that it's illegal right?

MyUmberSeal · 20/03/2025 20:37

No, you should keep your nose out of her life and not say a thing to her new manager. You don’t have to work with her any more, so let it go.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 20/03/2025 20:39

Don’t be so silly, just get on with your job.

Hankunamatata · 20/03/2025 20:39

Your overthonling this. Let her go to her new job, your well rid of her.

H112 · 20/03/2025 20:41

They probably are scrubby🤣

ComtesseDeSpair · 20/03/2025 20:42

I think you’d sound pretty ridiculous: you aren’t children in primary school telling on each other to the teacher. If she’s no good as a nursery worker then you won’t miss her.

Wisterical · 20/03/2025 20:46

If you had a problem with what she said why didn't you say something to her at the time? All this sneaky 'reporting' people is pathetic, you are an adult and can talk directly with people if they say something that upsets you.

FatLarrysBanned · 20/03/2025 20:48

Sometimes the trash takes itself out. Be glad she's gone and she's someone else's colleague from tomorrow.

Picklepower · 20/03/2025 20:49

It might be true?

HiJ · 20/03/2025 20:59

Sorry, I meant want as in I’d like to. But obviously I won’t.. it’s just I don’t think she has the right attitude to work with children

She was refusing to tend to Children in her care of course her new Manager should know.

Sazzle09 · 20/03/2025 21:04

I certainly wouldn't want her looking after my child!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/03/2025 21:06

I can't believe in fact I'm disgusted at how many of you seem to think this is okay.

Mocking little kids, grow up

CatamaranViper · 20/03/2025 21:08

I mean you can want to all you like...but if you're not going to, why start a thread?

Cattery · 20/03/2025 21:12

Just be glad you’re rid of her

Nurseries in the UK typically implement confidentiality agreements to protect the privacy of children, families, and staff.

Still doesn’t make it illegal! There is no confidentiality breach here. Nobody is going to arrest her for expressing an opinion (albeit unprofessional).

OP would be wise to have proof to support whatever she wants to say about her soon-to-be ex-colleague. Defamation lawsuits are always messy.
