AIBU to be worried?

Hi,

I have a 5 week old newborn who is compleltly fine in herself, other than a blocked nose (she is still able to breathe through nose)

I noticed today that when she was awake she is breathing really fast - fast shallow breaths. Counting breaths, she is consistently above 60. It's like she is excited- kicking around, looking around. It's only after I googled did I realise that this may not be normal. This has gone on for an hour now.

As I said, other than a bunged up nose and the breathing, she is her usual happy self.

I have called 111 who are getting a clinician to call me back

AIBU to be worried? Did anyone else have a newborn that breathed fast when awake?

I don't know but never any harm to get things checked out, especially with a small baby. And if nothing is wrong, then great

Is she sucking in her ribs when breathing? If she is, she will need to be seen by a doctor

It's scary but all 3 of mine did this when they had a cold as babies.

I can't remember now what the GP said the reason was.

They were always fine but you did the right thing by ringing 111.

All three of mine have done this as babies, in my case it always resulted in a medical appointment. Is she sucking in? At the ribs also check the neck, as they can suck in there.
