To ring in sick?

I have endometriosis, adenomyosis and pcos. I have flare ups of each disease and since weekend I've been in severe pain and not sleeping, flooding (there wasn't a room in the house I didn't flood in, despite wearing protection) and I'm shattered. I work hard and usually don't have days sick from work, but since April 2024 I've had ten days off. Five for recovery from surgery and five for mental health. Monday and Tuesday I had to go to work.

Today I woke up raring to go, but the pain is back and I feel shit again and I'm sat bleeding on the toilet.

Aibu to phone in sick?

Is work from home a possibility?

If not but it's practically possible to work from home, you might want to start the process of asking to be able to do so as a reasonable adjustment.

If not able to go in, call in sick

Phone in sick, woman! Honestly. Rest.
do remember that if work try to sanction you or ‘manage you out’ because of sickness you are protected (no matter length of service) under protected charactistic of your disability. endometriosis especially is classed as a disability. Please keep any medical records etc safe incase they start to do this. On a side note, are you getting treatment?

Thank you @Agix and @Gazumpel .

I'm able to work from home if my schedule allows, but today I'm in so much pain and bleeding so much I wouldn't be productive.

Thank you, @Gazumpel. I know that work are supportive of helping me cope with the endometriosis and know the disease is so awful. They know I still traipse in work whenever I can, but it's good to know it's a disability just incase anything comes up.

I had surgery in December, and it's been a lot better until the weekend when I've been in pain and had bleeding and clots since. I'm tired of this now 😥

Bless you. It’s awful. I remember running to the toilets blood streaming down my legs. Being too scared to sit on office chairs that were fabric incase I leaked on them.
have you tried any blood thinning tablets? Have they offered you any form of medical menopause injections in the meantime to stop the bleeding? (They are reversible) good luck for your laproscopy I’ve had 4 with varying successes and now had a full hysterectomy.

Oh I'm exactly the same. My office chair has stains on, but so do others in the office so I know I'm not the only woman in there suffering!

I've tried the mirena coil, which expelled itself, the mini pill, norethisterone, the depo injection and tranexamic acid. The transexamic acid is OK but I've had to go on Provera as I have atypical endometrial hyperplasia, which hopefully the Provera will help with as I have some nasty looking precancerous cells there at the moment.

They won't give me a hysterectomy on the NHS. Maybe I need to push more for it.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. It makes me feel not so alone.
