Petty neighbour moaning about me getting water on his fence

I was washing out my greenhouse yesterday and some other things and my neighbour, who was out front washing his car suddenly decided that his little fairy lights along the to of the dividing fence needed attention in the middle of washing his car.

All you could see was the top of his head above the fence, it looked hilarious.

Then he decided to speak to me, "make sure you don't fucking get water on my fence."
I just said "pathetic" and wandered into my greenhouse.

Of course, after winter the fence around my garden needs painting, which I will be doing but I won't be painting my side of his fence, which I normally do and he expects it.

Would you?

Paint the fence. All of it. Put wind chimes and twinkling light up.
Maybe hand make a sign :
NO RAIN ALLOWED ON THE FENCE

I doubt this is the first conflict between the two of them but if it was then he is obviously unreasonable to be swearing at her.

He’s painting his own side of the fence. He’s not going to paint the fence on the neighbors side so he can look at a ugly unpainted fence.

He usually paints the neighbors side but now he won’t bc the neighbors a dick

She’s not punishing herself. She’s painting her own side, just not the neighbors like she usually does

Was it just a momentary ask or did he mean - Don't ever get water on my fence?
I would have askled him whether he was talking to the clouds or me.

Has he got nothing better to do?! My petty neighbours did something very petty yesterday. Well she did. They are a retired couple, never really go anywhere or do anything despite having their health and not short or a bob or two either.

I would just put it down to boredom/pettiness/curtain twitching and having nothing else to do.

Whose fence is it? Or is it double-fenced but you usually do both sides?

If it's his fence, as he says, you need his permission to paint it.

If it's your fence, but you also usually paint "my side of his fence", he won't see it, so he probably won't care...
