What else would it be but a joke?

We're all aware that ghosts aren't real, right?

You’d think. But there’s some real loons on here about the supernatural 😂

RunningJo · 17/03/2025 12:35

Maybe the house was used for filming a Scooby Doo episode and those 'pesky kids' wrote the message.

IHaveDefectedToTeamDog · 17/03/2025 12:38

It's just a silly prank by a child or mischievous adult with poor spelling/ handwriting, but I'm sure the "smudge the whole house with sage and call the local exorcist" crew will be along soon.Hmm

And your DH is seriously lacking a grip.

VeryDownVeryLow · 17/03/2025 12:39

Its children but they haven't done it correctly. They are obviously trying to 'scare' anyone looking through the letter box whether that is their brothers or sisters or the kids next door

It's the back flap - ie. if you open the front flap outside and peer through you'd see this. So it should have been written upside down at your angle.

so that a person peering through from outside would see it upright

Well, it’s a child’s prank, or an adult being mildly tragic, I suppose.

Or an adult just having a laugh 🤷‍♂️

Really? That’s a bit tragic.

Quite right, wouldn't want to indulge in a little light silliness as an adult, you might run the risk of some people not being amused, due to them only allowing themselves to find things funny that follow made up imaginary rules decreed by absolutely noone that ghost jokes are for children...

It’s a bit naff for an adult.

Shamrocker · 17/03/2025 11:51

Should've got a ghostwriter then 😁

👏👏👏 brilliant

HellDorado · 17/03/2025 12:48

Also, if it’s not just a kids’ joke, your ghost needs to up its haunting game. Come on, ghostie - you don’t warn the people you’re trying to scare that you’re there! This is ghosting 101 stuff!

It’s usually ‘Call the local Catholic priest’, because they’re just waiting on your call, like Ghostbusters. Even if you’re not a Catholic, not a Christian, not anyone who believes in any kind of deity, you somehow think Catholic priests are effective at this kind of lark.

InvisibilityCloakActivated · 17/03/2025 12:59

This is a great idea! I'm going to go and write similar things in some nooks and crannies of my house too!

Whoarethoseguys · 17/03/2025 13:01

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/03/2025 11:21

Kids. Look at the spelling.

It's obviously a joke by some children.

movingtoreading · 17/03/2025 13:05

Well now the boiler is not working so clearly this ghost does not like my noisy kids 🤣 my husband does not like old houses i had to convince him for this one so …

Delphiniumandlupins · 17/03/2025 13:25

Someone has written it when the letterbox was rattling in the wind. Clean off the writing/get a new letterbox/get a new door - depending how much you want to spend. You may be able to get the previous owners to pay for the boiler repair, how long have you owned the house?

wishiwasjoking · 17/03/2025 13:30

Kids are creepier than adults imo.

I would be jumping out at him yelling boo frequently now though

Mansionscoldandgrey · 17/03/2025 13:40

You need to join in with the spirit of the joke 👻

tropicalroses · 17/03/2025 13:41

Shamrocker · 17/03/2025 11:26

It's a joke.

Not sure why people have jumped to 'kids' though, just because the spelling is poor.

Lots of adults aren't good at spelling for many reasons.

And ghosts struggle to turn the pages of a dictionary...

Mansionscoldandgrey · 17/03/2025 13:42

Although I would find that message difficult to read without my spectrecles

Pretty logical conclusion when you couple it with the handwriting and it’s a very childish thing to do.

TickingAlongNicely · 17/03/2025 13:45

I was thinking 1930s houses aren't that old...

But its approaching 100 years now!

But for ghosts... Who you gonna call?

Verv · 17/03/2025 13:53

Kids.
Any adult of middle age would not be arsed to bend down / get on their knees to write on a letterbox.

YourBestFriend · 17/03/2025 13:54

If your husband is spooked out by that nuisance maybe you should get a new husband rather than a house. What a bloody idiot.

Katemax82 · 17/03/2025 15:26

My handwriting is worse than that

PrettayGood · 17/03/2025 15:30

Look at the writing and the spelling. So obviously the work of a child.

Maybe a dead child though? 👻😂

LoveDandelions · 17/03/2025 15:40

Any other usually sensible adults here now tempted to do the same? Mostly in defiance of the miserygutses (yes, I know! It's lighthearted 😝) on this thread?

movingtoreading · 17/03/2025 20:49

@Delphiniumandlupins really ? We just move in on friday ! We claimed on our boiler cover and is fixed now thankfully
