To ask the hotel to rearrange our break

Booked a short break in this country for myself, DH and Ddog.

Booking T&C says “Fully Pre-Paid with no changes or cancellations allowed”

DDog is now injured and on restricted exercise regime so he can’t come with us and we can’t leave him in kennels as that could jeopardise his recovery.

Is there any point asking the hotel if we can reschedule the booking to later in the year or even the same time next year when the booking terms are pretty clear?

I can’t see them bending the rules for a dog .

I mean there’s no harm in asking surely? They may well say no but it’s worth a try!

True. I feel embarrassed to even ask but I need to try.

Couldn't you all still go and have a relaxing break?

Evilspiritgin · 17/03/2025 00:06

You can only ask, the Radisson at Manchester airport once very kindly moved a booking for me, when I asked to move the date

I think we would get bored sitting around all day but it might be the only option if we can’t change the booking.

I don’t know, some people are more likely to help knowing it’s an animal hurt rather than the human owner

I'm sorry to hear about your dog and hope it's on the mend soon.

If its only short break in the UK and the dog is on a reduced exercise regime- why can't it still go along too? Even if you need a doggy pram/push chair if needed to walk longer distances? Unless its some sort of hiking holiday?

Could a friend/family member stay with the dog at home? Doggy house sitter at home?

Edited to say that if none of the above are options, then its worth asking the company. I would assume your dog insurance wouldn't cover anything like this either.

They don't have to but they might.

If you ask and they say no you won't be in any worse a situation if you don't ask

Shy bairns get nowt

Hope Ddog's recovery is progressing Flowers
