To ask how you keep you cushions plump

We have some lovely cushions for our sofa but they just look flat and misshapen. They are only a year old and weren’t cheap! Am I expecting too much that they should last and look good. Give me your best ways to keep them looking good. Just to add, they do get leaned on quite a bit.

I plump them every day. You?

I buy feather ones. I find they keep their shape longer than other fillings. And I do plump them regularly but they usually look pretty good.

Replumped every time we sit against them and plumped before bed every night. I also try and ensure I refit covers properly when I wash them. I hate battered cushions.

You have to plump them up every night before you go to bed.

I buy feather, and I also buy at least 10cm bigger than the size of the cover. E.g 55cm for a 45cm cover.

I very rarely need to more than give a quick shake to plump mine since I started doing that.

Avoid cheap foam & plump before bed

By not worrying about such things and ignoring it! Life is very short. 😁

I wait until someone has really pissed me off (peri menopausal so this is daily) and give them a really good battering at night.

DP asked if I’d bought new cushions the other day, I said no but he’s had terrible toothache and been a complete martyr so they’ve had more of a pounding then usual 😂.

Keep the cover and buy new innards when necessary

Exactly this.

It's the only way they last.

I have a large husband who thinks he needs to use ALL THE CUSHIONS TO LEAN ON ALL THE TIME

Slightly bigger feather ones mean they look as good as knew once he shakes them back from flat little pancakes to lovely plump bouncy decorative items again
