To get a cinema pass

Sorry a boring one , but I can’t decide so asking you lovely people to help me out.

My son is turning 18 soon. We have a local cinema that offers a pass for £15 per month for unlimited screenings .

I am considering it as he does love the cinema but I’m wondering if it’s actually worth it ? If a few movies come out per month , then yes as it’s a few trips . But , as an example , I wanted to take him to the cinema this week and the only films on he would want to see are 2 that we saw in half term. So that means there hasn’t been any new films for a few weeks.

It’s a present that I think is a nice one and doesn’t require much outlay , but would still feel like a decent one … but over the year it’s £150 .

When I take him to the cinema , we tend to go to one that’s not local as tickets are £5 and he has a cea card so I’m free. So we don’t spend a lot on cinema trips , but this is one that’s local and I would feel comfortable with him going alone as we know the staff there etc as we attend there weekly for an event ( having a. Pass would make no difference to the cost of the weekly event we attend )

Does anyone have one and do you find it worth it ?

YANBU - it’s worth it
YABU - it’s a waste of money

I have a pass - I do like it that when I love a film I can see it a few times.

I loved mine and saw all sorts of films I wouldn't have if paying individually. It got me out of the house and I used it as decompressing time.

I would 100% get one again if finances allowed.

I actually think a teen having a place they can chill for a few hours that isn't with friends or at home is important and valuable.

Love mine.

means I try out films that I wouldn’t of full price as it’s all prepaid.

if have no money - can still go out as take my own water etc.

great present in my opinion.

i use mine loads and go far more often than before I had it

They're good value as two films a month equates to the fee. So as long as you go twice a month you're sorted. Plus most of them have special screenings, some are horror, thriller or similar so there ought to be things a teen would enjoy. I go more often now I have one and I don't want there to be no cinemas to go to.

Echo the other poster who said you will find yourself going to see all kinds of different films that you wouldn’t normally choose to see if you had to pay for them individually. It’s also way less disappointing if a film turns out to be crap because it doesn’t feel like a waste of money.
It’s also a “the weather is crap, I’m bored, what can I do?” Problem solver. And can be sociable too as if you’ve already seen a film your friend/family member hasn’t seen then you don’t mind going again.

Unless it's discounted for a year, based on £15 a month it'll be £180 for the year...

I have one and use it a lot - but I live in central London, so can easily access about 8 different cinemas in the chain. My closest one shows a mix of mainstream and arthouse films, plus has a screen dedicated to documentaries, so I do get a wide choice of films, I think there were 15 different films today at that cinema alone.
I'd be less enthusiastic if it was one cinema with a couple of screens that only managed a choice of two or three films weekly.

As well as free films, there's no booking fees for members either
