On holiday and central heating/ hot water not working

on holiday in well known caravan park area with all the frills.
paid for top notch caravan and we are in bed freezing as we have no heating. The whole caravan is freezing.
The kids are asleep in a freezing room and we have thrown our coats over them hoping they will stay warm. I’m dreading the morning though as the full English we were planning to cook isn’t going to happen as the gas hob don’t work. They can’t shower as there is no hot water.

A text from the holiday park states there are issues with the gas not working and they apologise.

Is it worth complaining?
There will be lots of us freezing right now and it’s not like it’s a persons fault.

Absolutely I’d be expecting a big refund and if ongoing alternative accomodation arranged!!

I tried calling reception but as expected it’s closed until tomorrow. I’m thinking tomorrow morning we’ll have all survived and they won’t care but we can’t do another night of this. The daytime we can go out and will have to eat out for warm food.

I am worried if I complain they say go home then and the kids have really looked forward to this holiday as they didn’t get one last year. But that said at least home is warm!

Absolutely you should complain, and expect to get a full refund for any days that you're without heating/cooking facilities. Personally, I would have told them that I was booking into a hotel, which they would be paying for, and they could let me know when the problem has been rectified! Expecting you to sleep in a freezing caravan in March, is totally unacceptable, especially when you have children with you.

Is there by any chance an electric cooker? If so, I'd put that on and leave the door open, at least it would provide some heat.

@RoastDinnerSmellsNice it’s all gas!

We can boil the kettle for a warm drink in the morning so that’s something.

Are you near a 24 hour supermarket?

Could one of you pop out and pick up a cheap fan heater and a hot water bottle?

Not ideal, & the holiday park should be providing heaters, but if no one has gas they won't have enough for every unit.

Is the oven or hob electric?

I was also going to say, put the oven on and open the door.
