I started a strict diet exercise plan on Wednesday. I’m desperate to lose weight and I’m really pleased to have lost 5lb already. It has been strict and involved going out running in the cold when I don’t want to - it’s strict so not a diet where you ‘feel full all the time’ as people say in some diets.

i really needed the boost of the quick weight loss to motivate me though - so I’ve started this Saturday morning feeling happy ☀️☀️🙌

good luck to everyone on your goals - you’ve got this 💪

Well done OP! This combined, with a reminder that my holiday is under 100 days, has given me a much needed kick up the ass. I'd had a great week and then crumbled last night and hoovered up 175g of mini eggs and prawn toast. For anyone who does not know how many calories there are in 175g of mini eggs... Don't look.

Edited

As good luck with it! You’ll do it in time for your hols !

Hide your scale. Focus on how your clothes start fitting better over time. You've got this!

Motivation is everything. If it takes a loss of water weight (or whatever it is) to keep you going then it's a good thing. I'm on week 3 on a less strict regime and lost 1lb after a tough week (1lb previous week also) but I don't care because I felt I lost a stone and my tummy went flatter already. I know it's just bloating but I genuinely felt a loosen in my trousers and that little positive energy has made me determined to keep it up. I've been going to a weight loss clinic for a year and lost only about 4lb because I kept messing up and couldn't focus but now finally something clicked and the future looks brighter. I'm meeting friends this weekend I haven't seen in ages and instead of feeling mortified I feel good because I know next time I see them which could be next Christmas, I'll be at least a size down. And hopefully another size down the following year. Every little loss is an achievement.

Well done for just doing it! Seeing the scales shift is a motivator even if it is water weight. The most I ever lost in the first week of a diet was 10lb which was down to a strict calorie restricted diet with lots of water and no processed food. It felt great and helped me keep up the effort. It can get a bit addictive though, wanting to see the scales shift every time you step on them.

Aw fabulous!! So true about what you’ve said about motivation and I’ve had similar losses in the first week

Even if it's water (that everyone keeps reminding you of), good on you. I bet you stil look and feel better, and have technically lost weight. I've been finding it tough to lose weight so congratulations and well done.

Waterweight · 15/03/2025 09:49

That's brilliant - remember to measure yourself through outside of just weighing as eventually you'll switch over to less "weightloss" more body definition

I remember when I was younger, I could lose half a stone in a week when I wanted to. It's so much harder now. What are you eating op please?

FannyBawz · 15/03/2025 09:51

Ignore the water weight miseries, it’s a cracking start and an easy way to keep motivated! Well done 👏

Sticking to 800 calls a day - chicken , veg - salad - and also some carbs - dry whole grain bread. I don’t think carbs are the enemy provided you count calories

Well done, small steps lead to big results!

I’ve lost 20lbs since January purely by calorie counting and not cutting any food groups out.

FannyBawz · 15/03/2025 09:59

OP if you ditch the carbs it would be so much easier, honestly you don’t get hungry if you’re avoiding them. I’m currently on Keto 1200
