Titanic - normal for six year old?

Hi all my son has recently decided he’s interested in the Titanic (historical event not the movie). He’s 6 and I wondered if this is a normal interest for his age? He’s not obsessive about it/will happily pick it up and put it down but he is quite interested in reading about it and making up games about it. Has anyone else had this with their child or anything similar? He is NT as far as I know. AIBU for thinking this is a bit odd or am I overthinking it? Anxious first time mum

My DC was super interested in natural disasters from age 2.5/3 until maybe 5.5? Still interested but ask to watch videos of forest fires regularly anymore. DC is neurotypical but extremely bright.

I was fascinated by Titanic as a kid! Other interests - the Russian revolution, ancient Egypt, WW1 and WW2, the Holocaust. nothing wrong with me,just loved history (and still do!).

At that age, I was obsessed with theatres (the buildings), crown jewels, and mediaeval implements of torture. I was also obsessed with Chanel No.5, although I had no idea what it smelt like. Children are weird. 🤣

My son has been obsessed with the Titanic for a while age just 5.

For world book day he took in a really in depth library book about it into preschool 😆

I think its just a weird kid thing

DS2, age 4, became obsessed with tidal waves after watching the one that caused the Fukushima nuclear disaster on the news one lunchtime at my dad's house. He used to read books about them and play tidal waves with his brother.

He's 18 now and planning to do an Environmental science degree next year. He's not ND.

A bit odd that you had to watch the film when your DD was age 6, seeing as the film is rated 12. Probably for sexual content and scenes of people dying.

But my DS was also obsessed with the actual Titanic when he was about 7, we went to see the exhibition.

I often watch things and just skip thought the naughty bits. Mamma Mia being another one. Dd was only interested in the sinking bit anyhow.
