Shoulder length hair. No health issues that would cause this. Thyroid etc checked - all normal..not had an illness..vit D, iron and B12 levels all optimal. I lose this typically just when brushing. Way more on wash days...

The average person loses between 50 and 100 hairs a day. That looks normal.

2025mustbebetter · 08/03/2025 13:01

That's hardly anything!

Comedycook · 08/03/2025 13:01

I lose way more than that.

OrigamiOwls · 08/03/2025 13:03

That's not much at all

biscuitsandbooks · 08/03/2025 13:04

Blimey, I lose about 4x that amount. Never occurred to me to worry!

hereismydog · 08/03/2025 13:08

Looks pretty normal to me.

Although have you had a baby recently? PP hair loss is very common!

FairTurtle · 08/03/2025 13:15

As in - you lose that just when brushing/combing (not in the shower)? It's a new thing for me. I'm also only in early 30s..no babies or pregnancies

I'm 35 and my hair falls out a LOT, to the point i only ever brush it now after the shower, then keep it tied up (as loosely as possible to not pull on folicles).
I'm waiting on blood test results for my hormone levels as its not the only potential early menopause symptom i'm having. And i'm not imagining it, my hair is noticeably thinner, bobbles go round 3 times a ponytail now when 2 used to be quite tight etc.

FeministUnderTheCatriarchy · 08/03/2025 13:18

I lose a bit more than that whilst brushing, I always have. It wouldn't concern me, but if it is a change for you then try switching up your haircare. I find I lose more when using a heavier shampoo.

Clarifying shampoo like Head & Shoulders paired with a really good conditioner like Davines OI does help.

I could make a wig with what I lose on wash days lol

Yes, easily. I'm mid-thirties, never been pregnant and have always had hair like this. It comes out just tying it up in a ponytail.

angelikacpickles · 09/03/2025 17:40

Looks perfectly normal to me.

Cotswoldmama · 09/03/2025 17:48

I'd go so far as to say that's probably a less than usual amount of hair loss from brushing.

Jade520 · 09/03/2025 17:48

Yes I lose loads, I find clumps of it round my house. I use a Ninabella hairbrush now which pulls out less hair, but I would still have that much and more every time i brush.

Hankunamatata · 09/03/2025 17:55

When is have long hair (below shoulders) that much hair comes out each day.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 09/03/2025 17:57

Looks normal to me.

GlenmoreSprings · 09/03/2025 18:04

I was experiencing something similar. I started taking chasterberry (in liquid form) and it has worked amazingly. My hair is shinier and my hair lose it near to none.

Iloafyou · 09/03/2025 18:29

That looks less than average, I'd say. I lose wayyy more hair and I'm not bald yet.

pinck · 09/03/2025 18:59

Looks totally normal for this time of year, I always lost more hair in the spring (just like my labrador) and if there was something wrong seriously you'd definitely know it ...
