Hi,

After some advice please.

My DD (3) has told me that the lady at her nursery grabbed & pulled her by her arm. And tonight told me that she strangled her arm. This was unprompted by me but she's told me twice (same incident) & when I said why did she do this she said she didn't know. So I'm not sure what happened in the lead up to this.

She isn't back in nursery until Monday & so I am planning on addressing this with the manager then. I thought if I tell her what my DD has said, and asked them to check the CCTV from the day I think it is, would I be within my rights to ask this, if they don't offer to?

Unsure if I'm dealing with this the right way or if I should be doing something else?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

That's how I would do it. In my nursery, we would hold a meeting with parent then staff then check cctv and do an investigation.

Thank you. I feel it will become very awkward afterwards when the staff member knows I have gone to the manager, but I can't not.
Another worry is that she would take it out on my daughter in some way, and I wouldn't know

I wouldn't worry about it being awkward... you've been told something so it's your duty as a mum to make sure your child's safe. It's the same on our side - if a child discloses something that has happened at home, we still need to look into it for the safety of the child. There should be no reason why the staff member might take it out on your child, but if you're worried then bring it up in the chat on Monday. Manager should listen to your concerns and offer a quick solution whilst they investigate.

Thank you, that's really helpful to know I'll be dealing with it in the right way.
