to hate ds school for wanting him at school this week for SATS but not at every other time?

Didn't explain myself in the title very well.

Ds has ADHD with autistic traits and due to this he is part time at school and part time at a local education centre.

He attends school on Monday morn, Tues all day, Weds afternoon, Thurs morn and he is off on Fridays.

So, last week school requested that he is there every morning this week for SATS.

I should have told them to shove it. If they can't have him there every morning of every week usually then why should I allow them to have him there this week.

Sorry, rant over but I sooo want ds at school full time and we still haven't sorted a school for September so its all really dragging me down.

I agree - stick to the pattern they have imposed.

But I'm not sure I would use language like 'shove it'.

I would say, innocently, 'sorry, it will be counter productive to break his pattern unless we are introducing a new routine on a permanent basis'.

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 12/05/2008 09:40

He is at school this morning as he is usually anyway.

Today, tomorrow and Thursday his routine stays the same but Weds and Friday will be different.

Also, on Weds he is usually at education centre in the morning and school in the afternoon. Now school want him in the morning but won't have him all afternoon either so he will have to come home.

Grrrrrrrr.

I wouldn't actually tell them to shove it (although would secretly love to, tee hee!)!!!

yes, i would want to tell them to well and truly shove it, too.

Deeply outrageous that they are refusing to have him on one of the regular afternoons

stick to his routine
bloody cheek of the school imo

sitdownpleasegeorge · 12/05/2008 12:15

OH NO NO NO NO !

IMHO they could have him for the extra sessions if their SATs are soooo important that they feel it is necessary to disrupt his routine but those would be extra sessions not swapped for his normal ones.

I would be very firm about that. You and he should not be inconvenienced for their benefit and their SAT results.

Stick to your guns, providing that it wouldn't upset your ds to spend extra time in school. IMHO (note - no actual experience of sen), his needs come first.

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 13/05/2008 08:43

They are replacing his original sessions. Nothing changed yesterday and today but tomorrow he is usually out all day. Eduction centre in morning and school in the afternoon. However, he will be at school in the morning for SATS and they expect him to be picked up at 11.45.

So much for giving dd of 22 mths some quality time with me whilst ds is out at school!.
