To book B&B in Dubai - is eating out really expensive?

I'm planning on booking Dubai for 4/5 nights at the end of the month for 2 people. We can book a free hotel with points (thinking Dubai marina) with breakfast included, but not sure how much it will cost to eat out and drinks. Trying to work out whether to use our points and book a flight or just pay for a HB/AI package? Has anyone eaten out in Dubai marina and know how much roughly things cost? Mid range restaurants I guess? Is this a bad idea? Should I just go for HB/AI package? Thanks :)

We’ve just been - we were HB in our hotel but looking at menus we came to the conclusion that it was about the same as London prices, with drinks a bit more expensive than that. Depends what you’re used to but cheap options might be hard to find!

We’ve been and always just go B&B because we prefer to have a wander out and choose somewhere to eat rather than eating in the hotel every night. I’d agree with PP that it’s similar to London prices, for a midrange place I’d say an average would be about £13-15 for a starter, £35-50 for mains (steak etc much more than that though), drinks are expensive even soft drink it was about £9 for a soft drink in most of the restaurants we went to.

There are more expensive places and cheaper places though. If you just wanted a quick bite to eat then you could get a pizza or a burger from somewhere for £15-20.

Please reconsider whether to go there. I am sure there are other places with warmth in March/April where women and those who are LGBT are treated much better.

It's not up to you where she goes on holiday.

We went half board and food was reasonable but drinks really expensive (alcohol I mean). I’m not bothered about drinking i just didn’t bother and DH had one pint on the odd occasion. We stayed in the marina though and beware there’s not much there and you’ll spend quite a lot on Ubers to get to the main part.

Just interested in whether you would say the same to someone holidaying in the US?

Thanks all, I think we may go for AI this time just because of the drinks. Thanks :)

We tend to stay in one of the larger Dubai hotels and we have two kids.

We do HB which includes soft drinks but you can upgrade to include low level alcohol drinks for not too much money. Alcohol is super expensive.

We tend not to drink or we buy a bottle of gin at duty free and enjoy a drink in the balcony once the kids are in bed. You're not tied in the same way to the room as us though.

In our hotel, food is quite punchy - two kids meals, a soft drink and a plate of chips was approx £60 at lunchtime.

Breakfast is great and on HB it covers most of your food.

I wouldn't book B & B as it is quite pricey (I live within 35 mins train to London so quite a pricey area but it's punchy in Dubai).
