To think some people thrive on drama

My thread about my lovely neighbour was deleted....because he's Indian and I didn't skirt around this fact.

How will we end racial tension if we don't discuss it? What was the problem with me asking how to respect his culture? I'm at a loss.

Will Mumsnet just capitulate and delete ANYTHING that brings out the woke brigade?

Anyone who weponises the word "woke" thrives on drama. I haven't seen your other thread but if it had a similar tone, perhaps, there was a reason for it to be deleted.

You lost the room at woke
Makes me think you make statements like I am not racist…but

Diningtableornot · 05/03/2025 23:04

Originally I believe that ‘woke’ meant being a person of colour who has become fully aware of racism. It’s a shame it has turned into an insult.

Mental. You were being nice about him. It’s a fact 🤷‍♀️

AFairDistance · 05/03/2025 23:18

Several of us didn’t appreciate your ham-fisted attempt at writing his broken English.

purpleme12 · 05/03/2025 23:19

Why was it deleted

ilovesooty · 05/03/2025 23:29

I haven't seen the other thread but I switched off at the woke brigade.

WilmaTitsDrop · 05/03/2025 23:47

Errm....

Ok but your thread's still there 👀

purpleme12 · 05/03/2025 23:59

Well this is weird...

WilmaTitsDrop · 05/03/2025 23:59

But also, it was you thriving on (and creating drama) from what I can see?

A school dad (your neighbour) offered to take your DC to school and you asked for suggestions for a thank you gift.

It would've been that simple and just a normal thread had you not made such a song and dance about him being from another country, and called him 'clearly a doting dad' because he stuck the dinner on while his wife was out at work, and did the school run after a nightshift.

Maybe he is this wonderful doting dad that you seem in awe of, but to most it's just called parenting.

Still you had a few suggestions on what to buy, so again it seems to be you creating the drama?

You said he's a smoker so my suggestion for what it's worth is just get him some smokes.

You posted on it 35 minutes before making this thread, and as people have pointed out, it’s still there.

I didn’t like this comment…I think they have really pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, it comes across as a bit patronising.
