New Ocado website

I know - first world problem - but does anyone else hate the new Ocado website? I have just used it tonight for the first time. The text size is very small and not as user friendly as the previous version. I've messaged Ocado but would appreciate any other comments from those who use the site? Thank you

I’m not sure how they can fix this now. The old app has totally vanished from the App Store and is presumably no longer available to anyone. Presumably it affects things like how their warehouses work too?

I don’t understand why they rolled out an app without some basic functionality in it? They can’t have done enough testing?

SurpriseSparDay · 14/07/2025 11:35

<Sigh>

I’ve just been moved to the new app. Not thrilled. It’s so busy and the screen’s full of unnecessary clutter.

And how I’m going to miss ‘Offers on Your Favourites’ which was always my starting point. (Used to make me feel triumphantly thrifty, before moving swiftly on to the artichokes and single origin EV olive oil.)

Ho hum … Can’t really see myself ditching Ocado after more than 15 years, because it’s just so convenient and seamless. Their own products never score well in comparative reviews; I don’t buy much fresh stuff from them; and I could surely buy household things more cheaply elsewhere. But whilst Waitrose has better luxury products, I don’t enjoy having to transfer everything to my own bags at the door. And I’m not going through the experience of surly Sainsbury’s delivery again.

🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I’ve had it a while now and no problems. Plenty of flash sales and no issues with availability.

CuriousKangaroo · 23/08/2025 09:23

Has anyone worked out how to type in a list of items please? I can’t find the function anywhere on the website. I don’t want to have to type and search one by one! It takes ages!

SurpriseSparDay · 23/08/2025 09:40

Interesting, @CuriousKangaroo … Given that one used to be able to do that from Search I tried it on the new app’s Find a Product - putting in a list separated with commas. It doesn’t work.

Tbh I never found searching for a list of stuff completely helpful - you only ever saw a small selection and not in the order you might want.

For new shoppers I would think Browse would be the best place to start, filtering each section as you go through them. At least you only have to go through that process once or twice, and then you should have a fairly reliable Favourites list to base shopping on.

CuriousKangaroo · 23/08/2025 10:12

Thanks @SurpriseSparDay. I used to find it handy as I would cut and paste recipe ingredients from websites which sped things up. It also meant with my own recipes I didn’t have to consider each item one by one, could just think through what I needed, type it in one place and then buy them.

Really dislike the new website. Ocado is by far the best delivery service in my experience so I will persevere for now, but I hope they take feedback and bring back features like this one.

CorneliaJohanna · 23/08/2025 12:41

My main problems with the new site, apart from all the small inconveniences like extra clicks etc, is that the product deals don't work, even when you follow the instructions by the letter, the deals will often not reflect in the price. So you pay the same amount for the deal as you would if you hadn't done the deal.I have tried to take them out and put them back in, which works sometimes, but not always. I have now given up on them altogther. I will also stick with Ocado for now, but I really dislike the new site. The thought "if it ain't broke, dont fix it" comes to mind.

RidingMyBike · 23/08/2025 15:21

I’ve given up with Ocado for the time being. The dreadful new app, glitches on the website etc. Didn’t renew my smart pass when it expired and have taken out a trial month with the Waitrose new delivery pass (which it turned out was cheaper than Ocado!).
Yes, there’s not as much choice and if I want anything from M&S I have to go to the store but it’s been a much smoother experience, the delivery drivers have been delightful and it’s costing about £20 a week less!

EveryNowAndThen · 23/08/2025 18:43

I have added three things directly from the 3 for £12 page, checked out and then been told I have an incomplete offer. When I go to the 3 for £12 page, one of the three things I added is no longer on the list.

I wonder if they've got some badly written code tailoring the contents of those lists to not include too many things the user has bought before, and it's kicking in mid shop.

Silverbirchleaf · 23/08/2025 18:51

My main gripe with the new app is that when I select my apl, I have to go through two stages to get to the site - the app page and another page .

Also didn’t have a flash sale this week. Not happy.

AllBranEater · 25/08/2025 17:09

Is there any way to add your trolley to a shopping list like you used to?

Apprenante · 25/08/2025 17:27

If you edit your order adding your trolley comes up as an option

AllBranEater · 27/08/2025 18:07

Thanks. What I wanted was to add my trolley to a shopping list, not the other way around? The only way I can see to add items to a shopping list individually, you used to be able to it all at once.

SurpriseSparDay · 27/08/2025 19:35

On the app I can see on the Home Page:

Book a delivery
Previous order
Instant shop

in that order. If you click on instant shop it will create a list based on your past orders that can be ordered all at once, not individually by item as in favourites.

Is that what you mean?

Access features are located in your browser selections - not individual websites. The purpose of doing this is to standardise them, otherwise every website would do it differently and that leads to confusion and less accessible sites. Some older websites may not be aligned to current practice, but the move is towards this one standard system.

I like the new when your order is arriving feature - it's great to literally have it timed to the minute! The old system didn't always inform is there were delays (or early possible arrivals). So yesterday at 10 am my delivery was saying 14:23 but by 12pm it said 13:47 and that was literally the exact time it arrived. Live tracking is so much better. Means I am not hanging around thinking shall I do this or that, do I have time?

Last Saturday morning at 7am I received a text from Ocado headed 'You're next, you're our next stop'.Without reading the rest of the message I shot out of bed, although what use that would have been I don't know;my delivery was booked for between 3-4pm that afternoon when I would be safely back home and not still in bed in the holiday cottage 80 miles away!
When I got round to opening the full text,it told me that they would be arriving at about 3.23pm.It was useful to know, but I did not see the point of that early text at all!

SurpriseSparDay · 27/08/2025 20:03

I’m sure that was a glitch, @BethBynnag86! That text usually arrives for me about 10 minutes before the delivery van does.

babylone · 27/08/2025 20:12

I am really cheesed off by their smart pricing. Im sure it was a lot cheaper before. And i dont like they have different “levels”: 1hr anytime, 1hr weekdays, 4hr slot… it makes me feel like im booking a Ryanair ticket!
i coughed up the 1hr anytime but thats almost the price of a weekly shop!!

AllBranEater · 28/08/2025 17:59

Thanks Surprise, but it isn't that. I think it must have disappeared.
