Everyday creepy habits of your ex

My soon to be ex husband always used to tiptoe into the kitchen while I was busy cooking and stand silently behind me, I would bump into him literally, if I took a step backwards. Startling and deeply unnerving. This happened frequently at different times and places.

I never figured out what that was all about. Has anyone experienced this? What’s the payoff, what’s the point in doing that, it’s so damn creepy.

Why do they do that?

My ex partner would get drunk, become argumentative then when he realised he was losing (nor difficult given his state) he would retreat to bed and spend the next couple of hours firing off abusive texts to me till he fell into a drunken sleep or I blocked him, whichever came first. The following morning he would deny remembering most of what happened then insist I must have done something really serious to upset him, although strangely he could never remember quite what that was.

@Shouldhaveseenhimonce That IS creepy.

I suspect he enjoyed seeing fear in you. But other than outright scaring you, there is plausible deniability in the way he did it. If you tell people, he can say it was accidental or it's not his fault you didn't hear him.

That's actually a scary man, if you think about it. (Shudder)

Coming into the bathroom unannounced whilst I was showering was another. Just wanted a quick peck kiss he said. Bizarre.

Why do they do that?

They feed of your fear in stealth with plausible deniability.
