My Ds8 ha lots of the comic style dog man type books and my DD5 wants some comic books she can read, but she is just learning her phonics as is in reception. So a very basic level of reading, but wouldn’t know how to read the stuff her bother has already . Is there any entry level phonic comics I’ve tried google and it’s so hard to use these days, no wonder the kids use insta instead.

We have all the usual phonics reading g books from Oxford. but she wants to be like her older sibling and is obsessed with being cool. 😎

I used Google Gemini assist, and this was the reply. I dont know anything about the comics so I hope they are relevant to what you want.
It's wonderful that your daughter is showing an interest in comic books! Finding ones that align with her phonics learning is a great idea. Here's a breakdown of some suitable options and key considerations:
Key Considerations for Early Readers:

  • Decodable Text: Look for comics that use decodable words, meaning words that can be sounded out using phonics knowledge.
  • Visual Support: Strong, clear illustrations are crucial. They should complement the text and help your daughter understand the story.
  • Simple Sentences: Short, simple sentences are easier for beginning readers to process.
  • Repetitive Language: Repetition of key words and phrases reinforces learning.
Comic Book Recommendations:
  • PhonicsPlay Comics:This is an excellent resource specifically designed for phonics learning.
  • They offer decodable comics that align with different phonics phases.
  • These are designed to reinforce the phonics that children are learning in school.
  • You can find these at phonicsplaycomics.co.uk.
  • Early Reader Graphic Novels:While not strictly "phonics comics," some early reader graphic novels use simple language and strong visuals.
  • Look for series with:
  • Large, clear speech bubbles.
  • Repetitive vocabulary.
  • Engaging and easy-to-follow storylines.
  • Monster Phonics Intervention Comics:These comics are designed to reinforce phonics skills.
  • They use colour to highlight graphemes, and the characters act as memory cues.
Tips for Reading Together:
  • Sound it Out: Encourage your daughter to sound out unfamiliar words.
  • Point to the Words: Track the words with your finger as you read.
  • Talk About the Pictures: Discuss the illustrations and how they relate to the story.
  • Make it Fun: Keep reading sessions lighthearted and enjoyable.
I hope this information helps you find the perfect comic books for your daughter!

Just scroll down to normal Google past all the AI white. That Gemini post proves the looking.

How about getting a graphic novel without writing in and you could add in words or phrases on post its- so encouraging talking and comprehension then bring in relevant print.

Can’t use google since AI.

Are you going to post on here (AIBU, a forum with a particular focus) every time you need something found, @AsproutdeserveslifenotjustChristmas ?

You know the AI summary is just at the top of the results right? You just need to scroll down a bit?
