Posting here as it seems to have more viewers. I have a 5 year old, and heard multiple times about her gummy smile. She starts being aware of it now and sadly hardly never smiles for a picture. I haven't approached it to her dentist as I never thought about it, till now that she mentions it too... I wonder if her gums will recede with the definite teeth or if it's something she will have to get used to. Sorry... Seems such a vain worry but it really hit me when she mentioned it. Thanks

She has a lovely smile.

She does have a beautiful smile but you can always discreetly ask your dentist for advice at her next check up.

She has a high gum line - exactly like Marylin Monroe, who learned how to lower her smile for photos, but there are some taken towards the end of her life when she smiles naturally and her upper gums are very exposed.

It's just the way your dd is put together. Look up the pics of MM (on a beach I think) showing her same smile as your dd.

One of DD’s friends is very similar - she ended up having some gum lasered off for cosmetic purposes in her teens
