Most recent one, I located a 80s piece of clothing a friend had been trying to find for a long time, because she related it to a time when she was happy any young, her best years in her eyes I think. The item I gave her was in mint condition and perfect size.

SIL said to me how happy she was to finally have a sister on the day she and DB got married.

Lately, my grandson told me I smelt nice and I smelt of my house which smells nice.

I don't use air freshener, scented candles or wax melts so I can only think it is the laundry detergent I use - or maybe my shampoo!

My sil said this to me when I married her brother and I thought she was unhinged. I think I have a cold, black heart though 🥶🖤

I ran a marathon once, I absolutely HATE running, I was a smoker at the time with excersize induced asthma haha. But the charity was such a good cause and they asked me to do it - people were so kind donating. I must have moaned a lot, i only i had about 4 weeks training. My now husband said "How can i help?" I told him he could drive me to the city, take me to the start line, meet me at the end, and i wanted a 99 ice cream with 2 flakes. (It was in Brighton). He waved me off, then he met me at 6miles, 11,miles, 18 miles for a quick cuddle. He waved as he watched me pass the finish line. And at the end when I had ran into the sea with wobbly jelly legs, i saw him walking down the beach holding a 99 with 2 flakes. ❤

My most recent was at Gail's. Popped in to grab a coffee and a quick bite, I don't go there often at all so had no idea about the no cash rule. Went to pay for my order, in cash, and the bloke mentioned it's no cash. I didn't have my card and told him not to worry in that case, but he gave me my order for free and told me to pay or forward instead ☺️

When I first visited my future parents in law’s house, the family was poor, loud, terrifying, everything I wasn’t used to. But my future MIL had gone on the bus to M&S to buy a beautiful orchid to put in the room I was sleeping in. I was, and am still, 40 years later, so touched.

That’s lovely ❤️

Once on my lunch break an older (maybe 70s) woman asked if I could help her, she’d broken her wrist and had it in a cast and her bra strap had fallen off her shoulder. She asked if I could reach inside her top and put the strap back on for her. It felt like a very strange request, but I did it and she was extremely grateful ☺️

My neighbours are great, a few years ago I was really struggling financially, the bloke brought his family home some lovely outdoor furniture which I really admired, he went out and got me some in a different colour within about half an hour 😀 I can't begin to say how happy the gesture made me .

I planned a post-baby shower for my sister in law as she went into labour during the one she'd planned. Nothing major just arranged to collect a few gifts from her friends and left them at their house while she and baby were in hospital.

It, like most nice things my sister and I do for our sister in law, went unacknowledged.

Valentine's day about 30 years ago and my boyfriend at the time turned up on the bus at my house with a single red rose 🌹. Everyone on the bus was going "aah"! I've never forgotten it. I phoned work, told them what he did and they promptly gave me the day off. I can guarantee that would never happen now!

A few years ago, a random client sent me a huge hamper one Christmas. Totally out of the blue. I didn't think I'd done anything special for them, just a basic uncomplicated client, and the work I did was basic and uncomplicated. Real run of the mill stuff. I did the work in Spring, so had all but forgotten about them by the time Christmas came, but had a very pleasant surprise when a huge parcel was delivered! I googled the retailer and was amazed at the cost which was about £400!

Just yesterday I was taking my 94 year old mother grocery shopping. She uses a cane and is a bit unstable walking. I was holding her arm to help her step up over a curb and it was a struggle because it was so windy that it was difficult to walk. There was a lady who was getting out of her car nearby and she hurried over to hold my mother's arm on the other side. My Mom and I were so touched by this kind gesture. It made out day!

My next door neighbour popped round a couple of weeks after I'd had my daughter and husband had gone back to work. I answered the door with DD fully bathed, dressed and looking fabulous and me in nightie, bedraggled and dirty.
She simply said...' can I walk her round the block for some fresh air?'
She came back an hour later. I'd showered, blow dried my hair and dressed for the first time without stressing. Pure bliss xx

I run my own business, a customer spent a fair amount of money on a custom project. They were very happy with the result and sent me a thank you card, miss dior perfume and 2 pallets of dior makeup

Dear friend looked after me for 2 weeks after surgery. She did a room up and put fresh flowers in it. I had to get her to remove them ASAP as I'd somehow developed horrific hayfever. She then, on my request, deseeded a pomegranate for me to eat. She emerged, covered in red pomegranate, saying I am never doing that again. I didn't say that they sold them prepackaged in the supermarket. She also woke in the middle of the night to help when I was struggling with my stitches and pain.

Best human ever.

I'd only been going out with my now DH for a couple months before my friend and I travelling to Asia. We arrived back in December. He'd brought a hot water bottle in the car to keep me warm even though the heating in the car worked. Such a small thing but so thoughtful and I've never forgotten.

Spent her tooth fairy money on something for me. I will treasure it forever 😍

My DM had been in and out of hospital for weeks and had been readmitted again. Was on palliative care. I had a stressful full time job which made hospital visits difficult and two teenage DC. My SIL dropped a huge homemade lasagne round and an apple crumble. It fed us at least two meals and was the loveliest thing.

LouH1981 · 23/04/2025 00:37

I was in A&E miscarrying. Late at night, pain was horrendous and it was the middle of summer. I asked my husband to buy me a drink because I was so thirsty but he hadn’t brought any change.
Next thing I know, an older lady tapped me on the shoulder and handed me an ice cold bottle of water from the vending machine. I was so, so, grateful. I’ve never forgotten it.

GreenLeaf25 · 23/04/2025 01:42

Two I remember most recently.

First one, I ran into a coffee shop to pick up a pre-order and an older lady said to me “she sees me pass by most mornings and that I smelt divine. She then asked what I did, and she said your family must be so very proud of you”. It was just so so lovely to hear, and needed given the shit I was going through at the time.

the second one was also in a coffee shop (but different one). I couldn’t zip up my dress all the way to the top, so I just ran out hoping that when I got to work a friend would do the honours. A lady stopped me as I picked up my drink and said that my dress was so gorgeous on me, and could she zip up the dress fully for me.

both such lovely examples of female camaraderie!

Few years ago, I was a work coach at the job centre.
Easily the most stressful, but most rewarding job I've ever had.
I was helping a really lovely guy, who, when he passed an interview we'd worked towards, came to see me the following day, bringing me a wine bottle stopper with the promise that when he got his first pay cheque, he'd bring me a bottle of wine to go with it.
Never expected to see the fella again.

Well... You can guess the rest 😭

Reader, he came back. With that bottle of wine. And it's honestly one of the sweetest, loveliest acts I've ever known. Won't ever forget it.
