because according to him its 'heavey gardening'. so i am having to do it later on today.

so have asked dh to sort out dinner, and he sort of grunted an answer at me which was neither yes or no.

Perfectly reasonable.

MayPolerBear · 11/05/2008 13:46

no yanbu
go out and mow the lawn and then ask "what's for dinner?" in a non-accusatory way

moondog · 11/05/2008 13:46

(Mind you,my dh won't let me do the lawn and I really want to.)

misdee · 11/05/2008 13:54

i hate mowing the lawn, but we have a chicken to roast today and the kitchen will be baking with the oven on.

is it "heavy gardening"?? though? The only reason i ask is because i am wondering if he is either a) using it as an excuse to not do a job he dislikes (fair enough i suppose) or b)is genuinely worried about what he feels able to do? Does he have an exercise regieme or suchlike? sorry, completely ignorant of these things. just wonder if he needs a confidence boost

moondog · 11/05/2008 14:01

(Btw, how are you getting on Lucy??? )

Lowfat · 11/05/2008 14:01

Gosh would love DH to let me mow the lawn - but apparently I am woman and I cant operate such a complex piece of industrial machinery!

So I am making a toad-in-the hole as its what I fancy for dinner!

Saturn74 · 11/05/2008 14:01

I think you're perfectly reasonable, Misdee.
How are you feeling? - it's awfully hot to be out mowing here - could it wait for a cooler day maybe?

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 11/05/2008 14:02

see, it's funny, i don't remember typing this, but i'm sure i did.

am having the exact same argument with "d"h right now Misdee. he's now just gone up for a nap.

chefswife · 11/05/2008 14:04

Why can?t he do ?heavy gardening?? Pushing a lawnmower around the yard is hardly heavy gardening. Is he just trying to get out it, the cheeky boy? Did you ask him to make dinner instead and he doesn?t want to do that either? On a nice day like this I?d rather be mowing the lawn than cooking for sure.

colacubes · 11/05/2008 14:13

I'd much rather do the garden than cook, its a lovely day, and a perfectly reasonable request.

misdee · 11/05/2008 14:13

sometimes i think he is maiing excuses lol.

since his transplant, there is a list of things he cant do, being out for long periods of time in the sun is one, and apparently so is mowing the low. never mind the fact the lawnmover weighs less than the buggy, and also collects the clippings so no raking afterwards. i dont find it hard work.

it didnt get done last weekend as i was away, so really needs doing today, as its getting a bit too long now.

I'm ok moondog - been doing a bit of heavy gardening myself, well if pulling a few weeds and digging over a tiny veggie patch counts as heavy. Seem to have developed another cold though, which is frustrating. Have managed to extracate the exercise machine from the bedroom so no excuses - well apart from this cough, which i think is an allergy - but yeah, im doing OK thanks

Sorry for mini hijack there

lucyellensmum · 11/05/2008 14:16

if it were anyone else misdee, he would have been lynched by the mumsnet collective by now - but as its him, we'll let him off THIS TIME

misdee · 11/05/2008 14:17

lol LEM, he3 gets away with sooooooooooo much.

have told to get peeling some spuds.

seems the wrong weather for a roast though lol.

but no shopping till tomorrow afternoon.

i'm gonna turn the ipod up full and mow the lawn once the sun goes to the front of the gardem so half the back garden is in shade.

dd1 is checking her ice cubes (there wont be any left once i'm done)

Lovely to have this dilemma misdee!
LOL at LEM

Shove the chicken in the oven and have it cold later with potato salad.

MrsWeasley · 11/05/2008 14:21

am I the only one loving the fact that Misdee is moaning about peter

Sorry Misdee we are not being very supportive to you. Tell him to cook the dinner or take you all out for a meal. (spending £ will give him the inspiration!)

Don't mow the lawn get the kids to run over it squashing it flat

misdee · 11/05/2008 14:23

dd2 has been laying down in the middle of it and left an imprint of herself...

ooooooo dinner out...

OP posts:
misdee · 11/05/2008 14:25

i wonder if the saucepan will fit on his head...

i did just make noises about it being too hot to cook and dinner out would be lovely, but all i got was raised eyebrows.

bah!
