…to suggest we stop engaging with the rage bait?

Just that really?

I’m hoping that @mumsnet is going to step in to help protect the integrity of the site’s chat but I think it’s important we find a way to discuss and debate without being unduly manipulated.

At present I think we’re at risk of losing genuine posters and this is not a time for women to stop talking.

In an effort to get organised, I intend to respond to posts that I recognise as rage bait or bots with a standard short response (or ideally no reply at all if nobody else has already been baited). If anyone else agrees then please join me.

Mn can not police every single post and be able to judge if the out bust / rage is warrantied or not.

Some posters seem to interact just to get the rage responses because they are just goady idiots.

If you respond to the post you think is ragey they get the reaction they were looking for.
I either ignore them or if they are offensive or over the top I report them so that mn can decide if the post should be removed/ poster banned.

You can not police other people's thoughts , but you can police your reaction to them.

ConstantCringing · 01/03/2025 09:06

I agree with you.
What would your standard response be though? Because it's your post that'll get deleted if you imply they're a troll. Against 'talk guidelines' apparently. Probably better just to ignore.

Judge by whose criteria? Who decides what is acceptable or not?

WinterFoxes · 01/03/2025 09:11

My policy is not to respond at all to AI or misogynistic posts. Don't feed the machines.

gamerchick · 01/03/2025 09:14

Im more fed up with posts calling for the bosses to wipe our arses tbh. People need to stop thinking they can police the site.

Engage, don't engage. Just get on with it.

Quite. I feel the same about the amount of obvious racist posts on here too.

Bjorkdidit · 01/03/2025 09:48

Nice idea, but sadly I think it will be swamped by people unable to see it for what it is, like the deluge of recent posts 'misunderstanding' a fictional change in tax allowances that a mere second of thought would allow a person to see that it's absolute nonsense.

You do.

I do ?
What I, me personally gets to decide on what can / can not be posted ?
You know that's not going to work.

So we have MN mods that as a collective do that for us.
Do they get it wrong sometimes? Yes .
But how many post do you think they block before we see them ? 1000s I suspect.
