Can anyone give advice for a colonoscopy?

I'm due to have one in a couple of weeks. I've read all the horror stories about the bowel prep etc. however it's the sedation and afterwards that I can't find info on. How does the sedation work? Will it stop me feeling anything or will it just make me feel a bit out of it? And how long does it take to feel normal again afterwards?

I had sedation for mine, and can remember absolutely nothing. Afterwards I was having a conversation with a nurse, and she told me I had already told her about a big life event. I can't remember talking to her at all.

Afterwards though, I felt totally fine. Had to have someone with me overnight, but really didn't need it.

I had gastroscopy and colonoscopy at the same time so was under general. So I didn't really notice anything!
