Hi everyone.
I've had some odd symptoms for the past 6 months that have led me to visit a private gynecologist.
Extra long cycles and heavier periods, bleeding between periods, a swelling/inflating feeling around my right ovary (you can visibly see it moving up and down but it's not there all the time), passing tissue during periods etc.
I decided to start the pill to see if this would help but I've now been bleeding for the past 2 weeks straight.
I'm generally shattered all the time and often feel very dizzy if I stand for too long or get up too quickly too.
Anyway, the gynecologist examined me and said they could feel I had an enlarged right ovary. I wasn't surprised as this is where I'd been feeling the 'inflation.'
They booked me in for an 'urgent' ultrasound. I've been today and the technician spent about half an hour scanning me both inside and out and couldn't find anything apparently. She was very cryptic and actually just seemed unsure. She was constantly umming and aahing and going back to check and just didn't seem sure on what she could see.
So my question is, will an ultrasound technician tell you if they see anything or do they have to keep quiet? Could it be she saw something and is trying to play it off? I'm not sure how a gynecologist could feel an enlarged ovary but nothing be visible on the ultrasound. Perhaps she's waiting for the doctor to have a look and they can let me know.
