When i bought my home I paid 6 months upfront. That has now expired and the new bills have arrived, and I've been told I must pay 3 months at a time, 4 times a year. The first 3 months of SC totalling around £360 is due mid March. I had only budgeted for one month, I don't have the budget to pay an extra 2 months' worth at once.

Has anyone else had similar? I also received a letter saying I only owed 35p of council tax next month as i had overpaid. I then received a letter through the door saying I'd missed a payment.. I phoned them today and they stated they had made incorrect calculations and i now owe £190 next month.
I can't afford to live alone anymore, it's depressing.

You might find they will do a monthly DD if easier for you? I was given that option.

Thank you, I've just emailed to request it.
Surely they don't expect people to just stump up 3 months at once? Where do they expect people to get all the extra money from?

I was looking forward to having a bit more money this month, after being told I'd overpaid my council tax and had a month payment-free. Ah well, it happens I guess.

I save mine every month so it's not a shock when the payment is due. I do the same for Christmas too.

No you are not being unreasonable life a single person on a ‘normal’ household income is becoming unlivable

ThatPeachDuck · 26/02/2025 16:46

My service charge is due six monthly, I simply pay a monthly amount in to a savings account and then teansfer the lump sum every six months.

ThatPeachDuck · 26/02/2025 16:48

I wouldn't have minded otherwise, it's just with less than a month's notice to get the money together. Anyway fortunately they've said I can pay monthly which is great
