To expect there to constantly be wee splashes on our toilet seat when we have 4 year old twin boys in the house????

Please settle a battle going on between dp and myself.

Every time I hear him going up to the loo it's guaranteed he'll be wailing downstairs that there is wee on the seat within seconds of him getting up there.

He thinks my exceptance levels of hygene has slipped I'm just excepting that 4 year old twin boys and wee on toilet seats go hand in hand.

I don't think he should keep banging on about it but put more effort in to the training side of things and leave it at that. Bit worried my boys are going to get a complex soon.

Why is he wailing?
Surely a grown-up parent would just wipe the seat clean?

I am the only female in our house, and was pretty much wading in urine perpetually, during the early years.

Divastrop · 10/05/2008 21:03

he is the man therefore it is his responsibility to teach them the art of lifting the seat.

my dh also complains about wee on the seat from 4.9 year old ds.i dont understand why he complains at me though, its not me doing it

luckylady74 · 10/05/2008 21:04

YANBU you are very sensible and right - get him in there with the ping pong balls.
It's the puddles around the back of the back of the toilet that freak me out, but I would never shout about it - only when they turn to talk to me and piss on my leg do I shout

Divastrop · 10/05/2008 21:05

anyway, why is it a problem for a man(unless he's going for a no.2)?its us who end up sitting in it if we forget to check first.

McDreamy · 10/05/2008 21:06

Paint a target in the back of the toilet with nail varnish - it will keep your dh occupied if no-one else

Lizzzombie · 10/05/2008 21:08

Have you seen those wee balls you can get in sainsburys/boots/superdrug? They are £6 and float in the bottom of the toilet bowl and have smiley faces - to encourage little boys to aim at them.....not sure what happens when someone poos on them though....

fiodyl · 10/05/2008 21:10

Teach them this little rhyme

If you sprinkle
When you tinkle
Be a sweety
Wipe the seaty

They will probably laugh at you but it may get the mesage across

MilaMae · 10/05/2008 21:13

Thankyou for your voices of reason was starting to think my mothers view of me being a slattern in the housework department was actually true.

There may have been a slight puddle round the back of the toilet this pm which could be the cause of this particular outburst(he washed the floor this am). To be honest I hadn't noticed, would have definately cleaned it if I had.

He's normally so chilled, quite out of character. Thanks for the reassurance

fiodyl-i had a poster with that rhyme on on the wall when i was with xp.he had no excuse, though, apart from being tall with a short hose.

MilaMae · 10/05/2008 21:20

Like the rhyme will be giving it a try,dp can sing it to them-those balls just seem to vanish in our house.

listen. I have two dses and the biggest kid of them all DH, and i clean the loo more times a day than i have visits there myself
tell DH to learn to wipe up any spills he finds... and leave a packet of disinfectant wipes on the back of the cistern
my DD, only 2yo has it so sorted, she helps herself to a 'seat-wipe' and always does it before she'll sit - a quick learner obviously!!LOL

Mumsnut · 12/05/2008 20:46

A cheerio in the loo is cheaper than a £6 ball, and no pooh complications.

garnettopaz · 12/05/2008 20:52

hey glad to see everybody else with boys has loads of wee everywhere - i started a star system with my 4 year old - if he manages to go with no splashes he earns a star and so on and when gets 7 he gets a surprise - i also take away stars for any splashes - worked well for the first day and then i'm afraid we went back to having many many splashes of wee everywhere and basically i've given up and just wipe it! boys!!!

gigglewitch · 12/05/2008 23:17

@ mumsnut (love the name btw) the cheerio in the loo / poo.... will try it

wishfort · 13/05/2008 09:24

I bought a house once, where FOUR boys had been raised. The lavatory had fitted carpet in it - EEEEEW! When we raised the carpet we saw, and smelt ,that the floorboards had rotted completely. Just thought I'd share that with you.

shouldbeworking · 13/05/2008 10:32

Before dd was born I often said why, as I am the only one in this house with nothing to point with, am I the only one who can hit the toilet? Just little boys I'm afraid...surely your dh was one once and should know. Keep some toilet wipes by the loo.

cyteen · 13/05/2008 10:36

Am lol'ing at this thread so much

garnettopaz · 13/05/2008 21:03

btw how about asking your mil how your dh "performed" when he was still a kid?!?!

dmo · 13/05/2008 21:08

i am the only female in our house so i have a pack of babywipes on the back of the toilet to wipe the seat if they miss

also i am a childminder so have lots of children up there in a week

Pheebe · 13/05/2008 22:08

Why is there wee on the seat? My ds is 3 and lifts the seat to pee - just like daddy. There may be wee on the rim and the floor but at least its not of the seat

ps, if you're going to teach them to do that get them to hold the seat up with one hand and erm aim with the other to begin with, ds had some very close near misses in the beginning

worley · 13/05/2008 22:16

ds1 is 9, he lifts the seat but doesnt really concentrate on where he is aiming. i have now moved the spare toilet rolls from the side of the toilet as they were fequently being spotted yellow.

or he makes patterns as he is weeing... a boy thing i think??
