To be unhappy that a child with diarrhea came to the party

A mum brought her child to dd birthday party & said he had diarrhea and she'd put a pull up type nappy on him (he's 5). He wanted to come to the birthday & was unhappy he wasn't well. She only told me as she was chatting & her ds had run off to join in.

Just hope my kids & the others invited don't get sick.

I'm guessing you and your party were free babysitting for her! Cheeky cow!

cupsoftea · 10/05/2008 21:05

I don't know her very well - only from school.

she wouldn't have left without that poor child had it been my party.

seriously, poor kid!

should be at home.

lisad123 · 10/05/2008 21:07

Oh he and his mum sound wonderful

cupsoftea · 10/05/2008 21:09

I asked if she wanted to stay but she couldn't. I was dealing with party chaos so couldn't engage in a shouldn't he go home with you now conversation.

I am gobsmacked. YANBU in the slightest.

I am absolutely horrified.

cupsoftea · 10/05/2008 21:20

when she picked him up I explained he'd drunk lots of water & hadn't had diarrhea. Wonder if he filled his nappy on the way home!!

wholly irresponsible behaviour and risky to other's.poor child.sheesh what gives with some people?

cupsoftea · 10/05/2008 21:28

I was astonished. I asked him if he need the loo a few times. So relieved he didn't (apart from the garden weeing) plus that he didn't fill his nappy as well.

i worry leaving lo with a cough, never mind diarrhoea.his mum has some front - callous disregard for other's and him

cupsoftea · 10/05/2008 21:36

If I see her next week I'll ask how her ds was on the way home & sunday.

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 10/05/2008 21:38

is this out of character for her? is she usually more responsible

cupsoftea · 10/05/2008 21:42

No idea scottishmummy - I only see her at school. She often stops the teacher to give suggestions for the class and things like that.

cupsoftea · 10/05/2008 21:48

it was great fun - everyone had a super time. We have lots of shade so all enjoyed the swing & slide plus running about & some party games. I was happy when they all left & had a super big cup of tea!!

Does it not occur to people that if a school says 'no admission within 48 hours of diarrohea' because of the (high) chance of infection, that it might be a good idea to apply that to other very sociable occasions?

Will the stupidity and inconsiderateness of some people ever cease to amaze me, I wonder?
