13 14 months fussy - help needed - food, constipation

First time mum here.

I’m posting really because I’m looking for anyone in a similar position or has been.

My son had a bout of illness around his 1st birthday. Tonsillitis, then chest infection then tonsillitis again and in the middle of that his first year injections.

We eventually got over that which was a really rough 6 weeks or so. A week later he became really fussy, refusing food that he’s eaten a million times before. Getting annoyed if I try to give him his drink or put some food in front of him that he doesn’t want. His sleep has been awful and at first I put that down to when he was ill because he was waking up so much in the night but it’s really persisted in being very disrupted. We’ve had nights where he’s woken every hour. Most nights he’s been awake 3-4 times.

because he’s been eating less he’s constipated and I think this is causing some discomfort. Have given him prune purée and some other fiberous foods that he will eat but he’s still constipated so will phone drs tomorrow for prescription.

tonight we have reached the worst point, he won’t go back to sleep and we’ve been trying 2.5hrs to help him with everything we can think of. He won’t even sleep in the bed with me which he has done once or twice previously. Every time we leave him a minute he’s screams and tonight isn’t even being comforted by us returning and cuddling him. However, if we put the lights on and let him done what he wants, go to his books etc he is happy as Larry.

I just don’t know what to do and haven’t slept well in a couple of months now (it wasn’t amazing before but now v broken)

anyone had the same at this age with eating, sleep, fussiness? He just wants his own way the whole time - it’s kind of scary!

Honestly, for one good night sleep I’d give him a dose of piriton, then I’d look at sleep training. It’s hard work but you have to plough through it, and he’ll be so much happier with a good night sleep and routine.
